Just despicable

Following numerous complaints about fast food delivery riders we conducted an operation in #tooting this afternoon with immigration enforcement.
In 90 mins we stopped
48 bikes.
2 were seized for no insurance
3 riders reported for offences
2 x arrests for immigration offences pic.twitter.com/nOOBMlY1Xl

fucking horrible, boasting about harassing key workers on poverty wages as they do their difficult and unrewarding work.

That's a whole lot of cold pizzas that'll need reheating

Wonder if the economy as a whole will just overheat and crash in 2022. Don't know if anyone is writing about that.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 12:48 (two years ago) link

it would have been just my luck that I'd have got that misplaced number in the right place last night and won £35 mil and after the Weimar hyperinflation I'd only be able to spend it all on pallets of rice and potatoes!

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 13:18 (two years ago) link

Did you win anything eg. couple of hundred quid?

the thin blue lying (suzy), Wednesday, 19 May 2021 13:46 (two years ago) link

£1,482.50

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 13:56 (two years ago) link

You just won £1400 in one go ?!?

the pinefox, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 14:16 (two years ago) link

4 numbers and the two bonus numbers on euromillions and the odds of me ever getting that close to winning 35 mill, ever ever again in my lifetime are so astronomical there is probably little point ever playing it again!

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 14:22 (two years ago) link

I never stick to the same numbers so it was just shit luck really, boxedjoy. just use your FP privileges if I post about this again today!

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 14:58 (two years ago) link

a few weeks ago I thought I had won £5000 on a scratchcard and I was ECSTATIC and then the next morning I sobered up and realised that the two panels were part of two seperate games instead of one combined, the worst hangover I've ever had tbh

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 15:04 (two years ago) link

lol I did similar last year on a word scratch card, only I'd scratched the F and made it look like an E and I thought I had a grand + when I went to pick it up I was informed there was £3 on it!

the pinefox, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 16:11 (two years ago) link

I suppose it's quite logical to think that KS thinks his best chance of seeming interesting to the public is for them to suspect that he's been having an affair.

Nothing else has worked.

the pinefox, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 16:12 (two years ago) link

it won't really work for him, a whole lot of his image problem is the perception that he is slippery and duplicitous.

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 16:19 (two years ago) link

that only works for Conservative Party tories

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 16:21 (two years ago) link

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 16:25 (two years ago) link

fuck that tory ERG clown calling for the Alexei DID to get pulled. He's the closest thing we have to a "national treasure" in these dark depressing days and one of the few people left in UK comedy who isn't either horribly melty or a Tory twat.

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 20:11 (two years ago) link

just because Offord has the votes of a largely Jewish constituency it doesn't give him a free pass as a posh white goy calling a Jewish man anti-Semitic, the prick.

Congratz anyway, cals

Mark G, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 20:52 (two years ago) link

calzino, Wednesday, 19 May 2021 21:05 (two years ago) link

Yet this is nowhere near nationalisation, but here we have left rhetoric of 'state control' being applied

When Trainline went public in 2019, the big worry was what would happen to its business if Jeremy Corbyn became prime minister and nationalised the railways. https://t.co/pB5Eu3hEmu

That the message is so easy co-opt also says some uncomfortable things about that message in the first place .

Labour at its most radical has never been very radical, and the post 45 changes were easily accommodated by Tory governments until the monetarists took over

Chickpeas, Scamps and Beeves (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 20 May 2021 09:30 (two years ago) link

Yup, playing this game has been a disaster, and now we have Lab scrambling to compete with the right, but they'll never compete with this.

It's not an immigration raid (as that wouldn't be the NCA, I think) but the video is still pretty unsettling.

I read some posts yesterday suggesting that there will be a leadership challenge when they lose Batley + Spen. Also that Leadbetter is the frontrunner for candidacy there. I don't think Kieth is really going to be up for a dilettante "who likes to do politics differently" and will be hoping the CLP will do him a favour by voting for some other off the shortlist who isn't a complete certainty to gift the seat to the Tories. But I think they'll lose it whoever runs tbh.

calzino, Thursday, 20 May 2021 14:15 (two years ago) link

maybe some of that "look at your hands" type stuff makes good comedy, but it's no good for pivotal by-elections that could be the last straw that breaks your leadership.

calzino, Thursday, 20 May 2021 14:26 (two years ago) link

the fash guy, Halloran is going to announce this weekend if he's running or not, if he doesn't the Tories have it comfortably in the bag.

calzino, Thursday, 20 May 2021 14:56 (two years ago) link

On a different note, how the fuck can it cost £20 billion to restore the House of Commons?! You could knock a replica up for about 1% of that, in fact I know a bloke who'd help out for the right price.

doing refurbs to old listed building are always nightmarishly expensive and time consuming, you special permission to even drill a hole buildings like that and it will be chocka with asbestos. It would be cheaper to knock up a new one.

calzino, Thursday, 20 May 2021 15:24 (two years ago) link

It's a real death-trap by all accounts, the main article here is good for lots of details (including the four of five people that are constantly patrolling for fires), but the photos will probably tell you a lot of what you need to know, calzino

so what's the catch with the Tories' populist and very showy rail nationalisation noises
