he cannot conceive of buying specialized clothing for working out so he wears some old cargo shorts and a scratchy cotton t-shirt. some white socks, possibly some sneakers he has dedicated to the gym. related, he is also probably not the most savvy dude in other contexts.

and i'm certainly not judging anyone, the gym is just a great venue for anthropology. i miss going but it loses a lot of its appeal when it isn't a 10-minute walk or 2-minute drive away.

also i'm cursed with the fact that i notice people in basically all settings and the gym is just a more acute one than what you usually get. i'm still haunted by the guy at the first gym i ever joined who worked out in literally three layers of synthetic, long-sleeve, long leg tracksuits so he would sweat out about 5 pounds of water every day.

ew. the most annoyed i’ve ever been was at this guy, a “pacer.” he would just walk and walk all over the gym at all times when he wasn’t doing a set of crunches or whatever. On these trips he would without fail stroll up to the mirror, check himself out, then do an about face and march off somewhere else. Never not walking. I can’t put into words how much it tortured me lol. Not to turn this into a gym thread.
