why do i hate that artist thing that people keep posting on my facebook so much? why am i such a jerk?

I’m in a bunch of gardening groups that have become almost intolerable every spring because of the near hourly posts about leaving dandelions for the bees, “dandelions are actually heroes, and omg I bet u didn’t even know they are also delicious” and now it’s spilled over into regular newsfeeds as well. Every once in a while, someone with actual knowledge will gently debunk most of it, but they seem to be very tired of it now. I know I am.

dandelions are pretty

they are but they crowd out everything else and their roots are diabolical. worst feeling is pulling that root out and seeing you've snapped the tip off. just a half inch left down in there will grow right back. you have to respect the tenacity i guess.

last year I was going to try making my own dandelion and burdock but thankfully I didn't actually do that, though I did try to make bread from discarded wheat in a nearby field (a disaster)

I feel like this is actually..... how relationships are typically presented in any novel/TV show/movie where "a crisis in the relationship" isn't the plot?

I feel like some people literally just want a movie where everybody gets along and are good people and have fun and nothing really happens

for instance, the In the Heights movie made some pretty serious changes to the plot from the original musical, cutting the entire frosty relationship between Benny (a Black character) and Kevin (a Hispanic character, whose daughter Benny wants to date). in the musical, Kevin doesn't think Benny is good enough for her and also doesn't want her to date someone who isn't Hispanic and tries to interfere, and it's a huge plot point. and they got rid of it entirely, the two characters are perfectly friendly.

one of my friends praised this decision, thrilled that there was no longer this 'ugliness'. i was like...they got rid of one of the biggest conflicts in the musical and ...that's a good thing?
