Under most normal working circumstances, I have never been uncomfortable in a dress shirt, tie, sportcoat, or suit. If they're good clothes and they fit, you should be able to wear them without feeling constricted. Like, my thing has always been that if a shirt is uncomfortable, it's the wrong size.

However, I never got round to adopting the skimpy 00s suit styles. So I didn't experience what those clothes felt like to wear for extended periods of time.

jeans are too stiff and heavy who can bear to wear such hard pants in this day and age

Was jeans-only for so many years before taking a hard turn into Gramicci and Nike ACG only and my legs couldn’t be happier tbh

I've been eyeing some Nike SB pants that are elastic waist. Aside from swim trunks, running shorts, and pajama pants, I don't think I've worn something with an elastic waist as an adult.

I need jeans to survive Montreal winters, but always look forward to putting them away for the summer

my neighbor is a regional sales person for a large NE based brewing company who makes a brand of hard selzer; she had dozens of boxes on her porch a few weeks ago and we made a joke about wtf she was buying from amazon and she revealed that she had boxes and boxes of truly branded 'couch couture' athlesiure wear:

now my whole family has ridiculous colorful gradient sweatsuits and they are kind of amazing

i should note that for 95% of the past year I've worn levis, a black t-shirt, and a black hoodie so wearing a red-to-purple sweatsuit around feels extremely jarring

Yeah I'm still nowhere close to actually wearing sweatpants, but if I did, it would be those! I would wear the sweatshirts for sure. Where do we get 'em?

call me old fashioned but i still think sweatpants (joggers are sweatpants) in public are only appropriate when you are going to or from the gym

Fellas, where can I get chino shorts w a v short inseam, 5" or less? So far I've found Chubbies, J Crew, and J Crew Factory, the Chubbies are 4" which is great but idk how I feel abt stretch khaki and also they are S/M/L/XL instead of actual waist sizes

the tailor at the dry cleaners where i get stuff hemmed can also take in the inseam. i recently accidentally bought some insanely wide legged carhartts (due to covid no try on policy at thrift stores) and got em fixed for p cheap

Yeah short shorts are 2-3" inseam

I think Ralph Lauren Andrew shorts are 5" but they're pleated with a high waist, you're probably looking for a slimmer fit.

Honestly it's not hard to find what you're looking for, I have a lot of them, but I think i mostly got em secondhand

Feel like it's time I treated myself some new jeans. Jeans range massively in price and the fashionable cut of jeans seems to change every few years.
Ordering online for jeans feels hazardous as I know that in the past I've had to try on at least 5 pairs in a shop before finding one that fits just right.
My last pair was a nice charcoal pair from Replay and before that I got a nice blue pair from a company called Neuw (both purchased fairly cheaply at TK Maxx for about £40-£50).

But yeah, without wanting to spend a small fortune, what are people digging these days? Especially interested in jeans available in the UK for under a ton.

Yep, I feel a bit like that. Especially since I live in a very boho area where even wearing a shirt makes me feel like Little Lord Fauntleroy.

the cuts really don't change that much. pedal pusher style short legs have been popular for a little while, looser cuts, but all the old straight-leg and skinny styles are still very much available. i will probably wear 510s or 511s til the day i die.

I would not ever front as a fashionable man but: I don't like jeans. I feel fine in chinos year-round, no matter the setting. Banana Republic or Gap or even (gasp) Land's End. No Dockers tho - I am a dad but I'm not THAT daddish.

ngl, part of my hesitancy with lighter colored pants is that I'm certain I'll end up getting spaghetti sauce on them or something similar

dark chinos are the way to go imo. i went on a testing spree the other year looking for non-low-rise, non-skinny cheap chinos and landed on everlane athletic cut and lands end "knockaround," tho those have a little stretch in the fabric that reduces longevity

I must protest:

"Designer" shirts which are 100% viscose. Can any living human wear viscose without actually wanting to die?

Man, I just got two hemp shirts from Marine Layer after seeing their targeted ads for years, and it just feels like the algorithm is too damn good. They exactly hit the sweet spot of "I'm a dad, but I still want to look cool, but I also don't want to look like I'm trying really hard to pretend not to be a dad." And they have the perfect fit for my still tries to stay in shape but a little soft dad bod.
