That's such an awful story. Those poor kids. And that poor woman, too.

seriously. though from reading the story it doesn't really seem like she was a QAnon follower, the delusions of abuse that she's talking about sound more reminiscent of the origins of the McMartin preschool case.

there are always people who are vulnerable to that. anyone who has suffered from anxiety knows how easy it is to lose touch with your rational mind.

the problem is that Q Anon and similar theories prey on people like this. violence is an inevitable consequence of the fever dreams that watkins is pumping into the population.

Here’s a thread

Lin Wood has spent the last half hour on Telegram claiming to be searching the White House for Joe Biden.

He finishes the story with the claim that he went into the Oval Office and found Donald Trump at the Resolute Desk.

This is delusion at a whole other level. pic.twitter.com/Cs6JYcZosY

(Watkins has happily doubled-down:

“There is a reason and purpose behind my less than politically correct description of many who participated in the visit to the Capitol on January 6,” Watkins said in an email to Law&Crime. “My long standing pleas for compassion and understanding of those involved in the events of January 6 with mental health issues and disabilities have to date fallen on deaf ears. One charged, insensitive, and vulgar statement and the needed attention is given. We live in a sound bite world. I respectfully suggest the next few days and weeks will demonstrate the prudence of this calibrated move.”

I found this thread of interest.

The Qonvention in Dallas taught me a lot about the QAnon movement's most fervent supporters. For starters, they sure aren't economically anxious. Not only did tickets cost $500 minimum, some spent thousands on memorabilia at an auction. 1/

Several New Age spiritualists in Southern California interviewed by The Times said they knew a total of more than a dozen former friends and colleagues at the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol with ties to yoga, meditation, energy healing and dietary supplements hawked by multilevel marketing companies.

...

Vocal QAnon support has dwindled since the insurrection, New Age watchers say, but some of the extremism is calcifying into something equally concerning: long-term conspiratorial thinking that encourages radical autonomy and sows distrust in vaccinations, elected officials and institutions woven into the fabric of American life.

hippie and post-hippie movements could be reactionary and (right) libertarian as fuck

it was always latent in the 'be a free spirit' attitude, the distrust of or antagonism toward 'The Establishment', and the romantic yearning to go 'back to the land', all of which can easily morph into laissez faire capitalism, bunker mentality and conspiracy-mongering, and radical individualism.

It’s the simple things sometimes

QAnon fans were initially excited about new MAGA social app Gettr, but they're growing irate as moderators fail to keep lewd anime pics and the "pig poop balls" meme out of the QAnon hashtag. One of the top results now features Sonic the Hedgehog crushing a guy with his feet.

Some background on Gettr:

"Trump Team launches new platform" seems ahead of its skis. Miller's "new" thing, GETTR, is part of the Guo Wengui G-ecosystem. Used to be "getonme," according to Guo's older videos. Guo's goals for the Twitter clone are ... lofty. https://t.co/5UdePX3Yf9 pic.twitter.com/S96J9UlknY

Already, overtly racist hashtags are trending on Gettr — highlighting a common issue with “free speech” social media apps, which have limited policies against hate speech.

Two hashtags with the n-word are already appearing in Gettr’s trending topics, and they link to a slew of anti-Semitic slurs and racist comments targeting Black people...

Sounds like they're off to a great start

Was watching the new Channel 5 Q episode and it finally struck me how much all these former Trump circle dickholes are (fittingly) like C-list reality stars in their perpetual grift. Just has-beens and hacks that'll take a paycheck from any convention or appearance they can manage. Opening a car wash? Call Mike Flynn. Need a keynote for your shitty Holiday Inn get together? Call George Papadapolous. Get Sidney Powell to run the karaoke machine and photo booth while the pillow guy gets the party hyped.

I live in the DC area and it’s huge fun seeing piles of unsold right wing books in stores. A few years back there were piles of unsold *signed* copies of Newt Gingrich’s latest book at an area Barnes and Noble.
