i believe that's what they said on the broadcast. the hand contact was the classic "hi-5" that is supposed to be legal

i cant find a clip of the play, which is upsetting as i was under the impression my every whim was supposed to be catered to by the big computer network, but yes i think that is correct

even in the nba.com play by play where they have links to every play it just says Instant Replay4th Period (10:52 PM EST) with no link!

There’s an epidemic of refs letting shooters get slapped on the wrist this season. Really obvious calls

maybe players make so much money these days, even like jason terry got $100m over his career, that a post playing career has less appeal

then youre left with the guys who just really want to be on tv lol
local sports talk station does this bit where they try to guess total career earnings for retired NBA players, it's incredible how marginal players that hung around made like $80 million

in today's athletic
Fred VanVleet returned to the lineup in Friday’s win over Orlando, but he will not necessarily play on Sunday against the Thunder. It has become fair to wonder how much the league’s schedule, and determination to get through 72 games for all 30 teams while getting back on track for the league’s preferred October-to-April regular season for next season, has led to the injuries.“I wouldn’t say (my passion has been) taken away, that’s probably a little bit too strong,” VanVleet said on Saturday. “But there’s certainly ups and downs to this thing more than I’ve ever experienced in my life. To be honest, this is probably the most unpure year of basketball I’ve ever been a part of, just from the whole league and rushing the season back.“It’s pretty much all about business this year on every level and it’s hard to hide it, you know what I’m saying? The NBA is a great balance of like the pure love and joy of one of the best sports in the world mixed with a billion-dollar industry, and I think this year the industry side has taken precedence over some of the love and the joy.”Unbeknownst to VanVleet, he was making the observations on the same day that the league fined the Raptors $25,000 for “failing to comply with league policies governing player rest and injury reporting.” This was probably a case of miscommunication more than anything.

I feel like if you poked around you could find nba role players who are good on mic. But the networks probably say “who the hell is that?” On the other hand, we have Ryan Hollins on our tvs for some reason

grant hill and steve smith are pretty good doing games. grant hill is the rare case of a super famous player who made a shit ton of money but has a pretty low key non-blowhardy broadcasting style. just seems like a chill dude overall.
i don't mind d wade on TNT as far as newer guys go but studio is easier than doing a game. espn has had a pretty bad run of ex-players lately with dudes like perk and paul pierce... trying to put my finger on what might unite those two guys... hmm

there were a few recent celtics games where sean grande the celtics usual radio guy did the tv play by play with scal (bad) doing the color and it wasnt good but maybe because grande was like this is my opportunity to not detail every movement of the ball he did very minimal play by play and they were kinda just talking in a low key manner for a bunch of it almost like a podcast, idk like i said it wasnt actually great but it made me think there are some different styles that could be explored
