hopefully i didn't tempt fate too bad

Ha, no, no intention of disparaging anyone who has the shots or has them on the calendar! I'd say that is plenty of reason to make concrete plans. I was just saying without any timeline or shots on the radar, it's tough for me to get my hopes up.

Will say it's going to be a really hard summer watching from the sidelines.

lol i figured jon, i just am like also crossing my fingers that something silly doesn't happen between now and me getting my second vaccine

cat, Sunday, 28 March 2021 00:03 (three years ago) link

No big plans for travel this summer, just the usual camping/hiking around the Pacific NW. We need to renew our passports this year and after that we'll think about next year. For me the biggest thing will be feeling more at my ease while doing otherwise normal things, like entering enclosed public spaces for a purpose less exacting than supplying the bare necessities of life. Including public toilets when I'm away from home!

Judge Roi Behan (Aimless), Sunday, 28 March 2021 00:26 (three years ago) link

ease, i remember ease, am really looking forward to being able to breathe in public again without envisioning a miasma of plague ghosts colonizing my juicy airsacks.

cat, Sunday, 28 March 2021 00:31 (three years ago) link

I traveled internationally for the first time (as an adult) in 2019 and I was really amped up about seeing other places in the world, which didn't end up happening. So I guess we'll re-plan that trip to Istanbul for 2022 or something like that!

Making my Capitolfest plans.

really really really want to go to the beach. feel the sand and the cold frothy waves on my feet, gentle breeze across my skin, ruffling my hair, smell the seagrass and water and sun, the cry of the gulls and sussuration of the sea.

DJI, Tuesday, 6 April 2021 16:57 (three years ago) link

i am going to the (cold) beach exactly one week from now

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 6 April 2021 19:54 (three years ago) link

For the people who are going to beaches - you're traveling, right?

DJI, Tuesday, 6 April 2021 19:57 (three years ago) link

i don’t live on the beach, if that’s the question

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 6 April 2021 22:20 (three years ago) link

The Oregon coast is about a two hour drive from our house. We plan to go there next Tuesday, once it is established that our 2nd dose of Pfizer this Thursday doesn't lay us too low to enjoy ourselves. We figure a four day interval between the injection and the trip should suffice.

Judge Roi Behan (Aimless), Tuesday, 6 April 2021 22:26 (three years ago) link

I’m just saying if you live by the beach, go to the beach! You’re not going to get COVID at the beach.

DJI, Wednesday, 7 April 2021 05:25 (three years ago) link

Yeah, I'm honestly a little confused about the connection between vaccinations and going to the beach. It really shouldn't be an issue either way unless it's jammed packed with people.

Mr. Cacciatore (Moodles), Wednesday, 7 April 2021 05:41 (three years ago) link

When the Ocean City (MD) boardwalk reopened, the news was full of images of crowds who had rushed back. I went for a few days at the end of the season; on the beach itself it wasn't hard to keep 6+ feet away from other people.

I just got a text confirming my second Pfizer shot on Saturday. LOL gluttony, but for me the pandemic will be over when I'm able to feed my face at a Chinese buffet.

Infanta Terrible (j.lu), Thursday, 8 April 2021 14:56 (three years ago) link

Beaches were always safe tbh

So who you gonna call? The martini police (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 8 April 2021 14:58 (three years ago) link

If your beach looks like Coney Island in the 1950s, I'd steer clear. Of course, I'd give the same advice without a pandemic.

I dunno, that sounds like shark propaganda

Condé Nasty (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 8 April 2021 15:13 (three years ago) link
