Damn this is great

As noted in the 77, I think these guys are some of the most vital and enjoyable artists making pop music right now

Their songs are outrageously, baldly political protest music with intelligent and clever lyrics and yet they’re also all bangers. The degree of difficulty there is super high.

I find the humour and personality of this does so much more for me than the straightforward didacticism of eg Sault

I have had this on repeat, loving the punchy sparse production and as mentioned earlier, there are some great witty lyrics in there. Favourite album of the year so far.

"Blenda" is an ear worm, eh?

Dangerously so - since hearing it in the top 77 tracks playlist I’ve found myself singing it to myself.

Out of context, randomly singing ‘go back to the country where you come from’ and nothing else is a problem waiting to happen. Damn catchy political bangers.

Loved this on first listen, the singles make much more sense in the context of the album. This is super stylish and cynical, could be the soundtrack to some high fashion runway.

Nice interview. Didn't know that Pupul was Kamagurka's son! (a factoid probably lost on people outside of Belgium/The Netherlands)

this really holds up to a second listen, incredibly strong album. the lyrical games it plays are both straightforwardly witty and headspinningly complex; it's rare and great to see this sort of intelligence applied to, essentially, techno bangers. but then again the bangers themselves aren't so simple either; they're playful, tuneful and the production and structures are kept constantly interesting and fresh. wheels are not allowed to spin.

saw them at Desert Daze in 2022, if that's what you're thinking of, was a great set, she was amazing live.
