So many bad, complacent djs barely trying on this station.

Actually idk what the point of 6 music plus anymore when you can listen to nts for instance.

If my kitchen DBS radio could pick up NTS you would have a point, can't even get Radio 5 in there.

Saturday afternoons just won't be the same without Liz reading out callers boasts about gigs they went to in 1991

just get the NTS app on your phone and get some earphones.

6 music seems to basically be like radio 2 for aged indie kids.

that said, i have occasionally been alerted to a few good things, but during the daytime, they could play so much better stuff than they do. and newer stuff. i dont need to hear stuff that is only seemingly being played for nostalgia. then again, i might not be the right audience as i rediscovered jazz fm this week, and found i like more music on there nowadays than on 6 music.

no, I have decent radio player apps on my phone and good headphones but I also have a young family and walking round with headphones on wouldn't really go down well (anyway I listen to much less radio now as all my listening time is taken up with editing music for centuries of sound these days)

I made a big post up there somewhere about which 6 music shows are good and which are very much not good, agreed that the station has a lot of indie schmindie rubbish and should be overhauled almost entirely, radio 3 is still easily the best bbc station, radio 1 has been surprisingly good the last few years though.

i like lauren laverne as a presenter, but thats just cos she has a nice voice/manner.

i enjoy radio 1 on the whole, though it would be better with less george ezra.

quite happy with LL's breakfast show, only thing I regularly hear now tbh, she did the first play of the new Laura Mvula this morning.

Now That's What I Call Sombre Music today on 6 music, radcliffe and maconie is just Radcliffe doing minimal links, on for 4 hours and playing the slowest, most miserable stuff in the catalogue.

This is kind of hilarious. It's pretty chill though, and always good to hear Big Thief's Mary.

My local Co-Op has it's own radio station that usually plays 'Gimme Hope Joanna' and 'A Good Heart' on rotation was playing classical music today.

similar today by the look of things, 4 hours of Radcliffe this morning, 3 hours of Maconie in the freak zone slot.

Less chill out and back to the shout outs though.

I never heard her 1Xtra show, but Jamz Supernova's recently launched Saturday afternoon 6Music show has become my favourite thing on the radio right now. It's guiding me through areas of music that were dauntingly unfamiliar to me before. A great addition to the Saturday line-up (as is The Blessed Madonna later on), and it makes perfect sense to schedule it just before Gilles Peterson.

I found jamz supernova a bit much for a saturday afternoon but I should probably be listening to magic or something instead.

I worked with Jamz when she was an aspiring assistant radio producer on other people’s shows and she was unfailingly friendly and polite - not qualities in surplus at most radio stations - she stood out

Yeah, that fits with her presenting style: natural, unforced, and communicating a clear love of the music she's chosen. A couple of weeks ago, she finished with a 30 minute Portuguese mix that maybe banged too hard for the time of day, but she dialled it back this week: there were a couple of times where she said "I'm just taking the tempo a little bit up", which helped you to acclimatise.

Some people I follow on Twitter are furious and I am biting my virtual lip because his breakfast show was basically the reason I didn't listen to the station until a couple of years ago when they finally moved him to the afternoon, anyway this thread is a safe place to say "good."

I turned the radio on today at work for the first time in a while and heard him talking about how it was his last show, it was so nice to change the station knowing I might never have to hear the unbearable cunt again
