oh yeah, here's a playlist of some selected recordings from the last six months or so. i know i haven't really been posting in here very much lately. i get intimidated by this idea of sharing my music here because you guys are like, actual musicians and the music you play is. . . idk, real music? i listen to everything that's posted here and just constantly impressed by how talented you all are and how awesome the music you play is. i'm just some dude that learned everything wrong and who records ridiculous fake pop music in my bedroom. i don't even have a bass for crying out loud. music is something i make 100% for fun. . . and. . . idk where i'm going with this, but i guess it boils down to me being grateful that this place exists and that you guys haven't shunned me out of it — because it would certainly be understandable if you had by now.

I'm in a weird place wondering if I'll ever record and write again after having two kids and kind of not caring either way bc I'm too tired to think. I was on a big run a few years ago before the first kid, but after that i realized I need to reconfigure my relationship with music--maybe move it down a peg or two on the priority list. Anyway I thought I'd drop some of the stuff on here I was working on before all that to see if it motivates me to start thinking about it again.

i made a "mixtape" of instrumental tracks i recorded in the past year, mostly sampler-driven with some guitar. i mixed by bouncing back and forth between 4-track and computer, adding effects and vocals and other sounds. it's pretty lo-fi and crunchy but it turned out how i wanted, like if the original songs were being blasted out of a cheap loud car stereo.

This is cool, love to hear those sample pack sounds get used!

I did a fun project with a local band, where they pick a scale + bpm and all record parts without hearing each other (in this case E Dorian + 110 bpm). Then each member produces a track using the stems. They invited me to contribute to a track to this one, so it's somewhere in-between a remix and an original. Would love to try this with other people where I'm involved in generating the stems too.

thanks! I think there might be some tremelo, I use an amp modeling plugin a friend of mine who runs a studio recommended called S-Gear by Scuffham Amps, it's not as well known and it doesn't have tons of amps and effects but I think it sounds pretty real

I usually just track guitar DI then flip through presets until something sounds good do I don't always know what goes into it

i have only started attempting to play guitar and sing at the same for the last couple months, so i'm hoping that if and when additional family members die, my rendition of "sweetness follows" will be a little easier! i still have shakey voice right now, but whatever

Jordan, I finally listened to Poly Pointillism. I haven't broken anything down yet but I really like it - the sounds themselves and the rhythms. I added it to my cart for the next BC Friday.
