sorry to bump this thread before greenwald dies, i did not particularly want to end up reading one of his newsletters and then gazing at the conspiracy theorists in the comments section in horror but that's what happened this morning. him and taibbi and their apparent best bros jesse singal and andrew sullivan are like this susbtack thinktank now and are consistently rewarded and prioritized by their platform and i would feel a pleasant degree of schadenfreude at all of them collectively showing their asses especially about anything remotely touching trans issues if it weren't accompanied by a profound sense of dread and rage that they've made money and courted an audience over it. just had to get that out

I find that when I click on a weird Twitter response to a political post to look at the person's feed (why do I do this? Some kind of mild self-harm instinct I guess) I surprisingly often find it's an anti-religion, anti-"critical race theory", anti-woke, Greenwald-loving account. This is a constellation of views I don't think I really understand, but it's out there.

re his shifting political allegiance in brazil (and his husband's, since that's who's switching parties here) i actually think he's eversoslightly correct (i complained abt it way upthread) that US english speakers especially only ever really pay attention to the detail of brazilian politics to own him and make very little attempt whatever to keep themselves informed in a serious way (caveat: memes abt bolsonaro getting covid for the 409857203957th time are never not funny)
