very much November weather here this morning, dense fog and cold. Such low visibility that when I let my dog off the lead he was completely out of sight for five minutes.

This year I’m not as excited about March bc I’m unemployed and this is my deadline for beginning my job search in earnest. The weather is def getting better though.

It was 72 here yesterday, and the trees are budding. Birds everywhere, spring on the wing.

March is just a slightly less aggro February here. Having to wait until late April/early May to experience spring for a split second before summer sets in is one of the things I hate the most about living in Quebec.

We’ll also be going from 5 to -17°C within less than 24h. How exciting.

The cruelest month is December. Also spring is the least sucky of all seasons. .

Growing up in the Northeast, spring was my least favorite season. I remember it as a slurry of dirty snow, muddy boots, damp mittens and dead yellow grass poking through during thaws. I never understood the appeal of the season til I moved to East Tennessee, where it really does that Bambi thing where everything suddenly flowers in mid-to-late March, we get highs from 65 to 75, and it is just totally gorgeous (if hard on the sinuses).

I woke up, read all your posts about beautiful spring weather, and was consumed with envy because it's been cold and rainy and gray here and I didn't expect it to change for another few weeks. Went out to walk the dog, and it turns out to be the most beautiful sunny spring day, just perfect.

I don't have to work today except for class prep, so I'm going to go for a long walk in the sun and listen to a Springsteen concert from 1977.

It's true – the current forecast says we'll be hitting 7°C on Tuesday and 11°C on Wednesday, which feels like a small miracle right now. Too bad we'll still be stuck at sub zero temperatures this weekend, as I'm supposed to go for a physically distanced walk with some friends.

that sounds lovely! i took off my hat outside and only wore one pair of stretchy knit gloves. totally sublime to feel the air on my skin again. i actually felt the warmth of the sun yesterday and saw some lil crocuses peeking through the ground on campus today.

Supposed to hit the mid-60s on Saturday, then a inch or two of snow on Monday. Taking advantage of fake Spring in the meantime though.

literally below 40 the rest of this week now. first rollercoaster plunge of spring. i hope we have like 5 instead of 7 before the lilacs bloom, when spring is officially moving into summer afaic.

Yeah it snowed today. I don’t care though because the trajectory is POSITIVE and UPWARD compared to the fluctuations of, say, November when things go from bad to worst for the following 4 months.

It may suck today or even tomorrow and the next day but overall it’s getting better. That’s inevitable and I’m here for it!!

The excitement of March is dampened a little by the prospects of a snowstorm getting prepared to dump up to a foot of snow on us tomorrow. :/

Also the part of the forecast that pointed out additional systems on the way that may likely mean March alone exceeds our snow totals for all of the rest of winter.

Fret if you must — I will deal with snow when it happens but the trajectory is inevitable. It will gradually get better and no snow dumps can stop it.

Not fretting, I'll believe it when I see (and shovel) it, just admitting that it dampened my excitement somewhat.
