i enjoyed the mr. chicken legs sketch, and the ad agency one

Did not like chicken legs. Loved ad agency. Surprised there isn’t more chatter about Che’s Israel joke.

i like chicken legs because it was just absurd and stupid and Cecily Strong really got into singing that dumb song.

I'm sure everyone on ILX is fine with Che's Israel joke. It certainly made some people on Twitter angry.

oh I didn't mean here. I just didn't notice it on twitter. Not that I was spending a lot of time on twitter. But I figured it'd be enough noise that I'd have seen it! I thought it was great.

Decent episode over all.

Chicken Legs sketch felt a bit like body-shaming some of the dorky male cast members, but we always made fun of my grandpa for his chicken legs, so I liked it nostalgically.

imo when snl stops hiring skinny white dudes en masse i will give a shit about chicken leg ass dudes' feelings about their legs

I... liked a lot of this episode. More weird sketches please. It felt like they were having fun.

Rough episode

Baby boomers getting vaccinated rap was good bcz it made a couple of jokes, and pegged the style at exactly the mid-90s point when the boomers would have switched off from having a concept of current rap, so any lameness was on brand. (Meanwhile the white rapper guy who was musical guest can confirm to boomer viewers that they were right to cut off at the shiny suit era.)

Not sure there was an actual joke in anything else? Kamala Harris making out with her husband was an embarrassment- are we supposed to have any idea who she’s married to? Shame her into giving me my $38,000 or fuck off. Barfly awards feels like the sort of thing that could recur twice a year, if you actually have enough gags to fill it and aren’t too scared either to reach for a touch of pathos (Rowley Birkin style), or to have a character or two that celebrate their drunken joie de vivre. Playing the school teacher w/ enthusiasm might have managed both? I did chuckle at a couple of set-ups in the sketch though.

this was awful; was the audience severely reduced? because even in a bad episode there is usually audience laughter, and it was dead silent through a lot of this (as it should have been).

I love Maya Rudolph but she was not good in a single sketch here, and my wife was pretty put off by the accent in the opener.

The filmed musical rap was amusing but this reminds me that someone said recently the problem with SNL now is that its run by musical theater kids and really rings true.

This one one pretty good, and Bowen Yang had his best bit yet (the Iceberg).

The writers are relearning how to write a sketch show without Trump. The sketch with Kate and Aidy as young boys was ace.

Yeah, well, we're all kind of learning how to live life without Trump.

That task would be made much simpler if the media weren’t still covering him and his idiot spawn 24/7.

Last night was good? I think? The Statler and Waldorf sketch at least was a highpoint of the season.

I did something I rarely do and watched the entire episode, because my 15-year-old is a big fan of both Key and Rodrigo. Definitely above the standard of most of the SNL content I've seen lately, especially the Muppet Show sketch and for some reason the high school graduation sketch. But let me ask you this, touched off by watching this with a teen -- is the percentage of jokes that are about fucking always this high?

yes. there were two incest jokes last week

the writers feel honor bound to have at least one sketch a week that is bulging with sexual content, all of it scantily clad in smug winking innuendoes even a child can see-thru.

They should have an end-of-season "watch with your teen" clip show where there's no jokes about fucking and it's all stuff like Waldorf/Statler where I get to productively explain to the kid some of the underlying memework

Anyone watch the Musk ep? Yikes.

nobody's admitted to watching the full thing but we talked about it on his thread and I'm sorry to say nobody thought it was very good

I only watched the opening and weekend update during that ep and then, boom, wannabe theater geek Elon showed up as the third correspondant.

I saw both and despite being a decent sized key and peele fan and the opposite of a musk fan I’d say the musk episode was a bit funnier though they were both pretty bad.

I refused to watch the Musk episode after seeing a clip of Gen-Z Hospital

i thought the musk episode was pretty funny by current day SNL standards... the kyle mooney baby yoda thing on SNL was the hardest i've laughed at SNL in a long time. the keegan michael key episode was just awful to me, so many song based skits my god, it was really bad, there was something try hard about his performances that didn't connect w/ me at all, like everything was delivered 10% too extra but not in a comedic way

yeah as much as I like Key and Peele, Key's overacting ruins it for me sometimes. I haven't seen the episode but I know exactly what you're talking about

Mooney as Yoda as moronic influencer is comedy gold imo.

And the Key episode didn't work much for me other than the Last Dance sketch, which was pretty good.

i think it's prob a bad sign when the host's monologue is entirely about how badly they've wanted to host SNL since they were a kid and how hard they're going to try during the show. it really came thru during the sketches. cool for keegan tho
