This is dope.

Seems to have really nailed the difficulty level and learning curve. Things are unfurled at just the right pace. Some of the more tedious aspects of the survival genre are streamlined. Gets tough enough to make you sweat from time to time but it’s not grueling. Haven’t tried multiplayer yet, but I can see it being really fun.

i have spent so, so much of my weekend in this in a server w some friends and it is really great. circa1916 nailed it, the difficulty curve is just right. i actually tried ark a week ago and bounced off hard, playing with a friend trying to even FIND each other was impossible after an hour or two so we gave up and ended up getting into this. we have a little village with a big wood effigy and i died taking barnacles off of something scary 10/10

Yeah admittedly I don't like Ark all that much but my friend sometimes insists we play it. Kinda why I want to find something similar but heaps better. This is looking promising, I've watched a bit of play on yt and other than the building looking a bit clunky everything else seems to look smart.

we are two bosses down, third to go, and it is spawning veeeeery far away in a big swamp (the level 3 biome) pretty much surrounded by plains (the level 4 biome) which is not gonna make our lives easy. we have a local swamp we have yet to exploit the hell out of for iron tho, hopefully when we all get that gear upgraded we'll be less screwed by all of those damn deathsquitos and goblins. the plains are so PRETTY though!!

This has become an absolute sensation in my group of friends, even managing to draw in a number of sceptical non-gamers. There’s a group of 10 or so now who drop in on the dedicated server semi-regularly and it’s just such great fun.

We’re making pretty slow progress because we’re trying to only do the bosses together in a big group so no one gets left behind (which basically limits us to Sunday afternoons). But there’s still something for everyone. The deer hunting in particular is so well realised and everyone enjoys that, but otherwise there are people who love sailing about uncovering the map, others who are all about grinding in the dungeons, one guy who loves the architecture and is all about messing around with crossbeams and building ever more elaborate long halls.

Some really fun emergent game play - a particular highlight was a big siege on our first base built within the Black Forest which happened to occur while all 10 players were online, so the numbers / toughness of the enemies scaled up really nicely. Lots of firing bows from balconies and parapets, trolls destroying the camp, a few heroic deaths.

Another time where we rafted across to another landmass in the very early game, two guys promptly got killed and the raft got destroyed, leaving the one survivor to sneak desperately alone behind enemy lines carrying everyone’s valuable gear before eventually arriving safely home after building his own raft. Watching him sail out of the mist on his raft with his torch held aloft as we all waited on the coast for him was a great moment.

The mining is admittedly a bit of a tedious grind but you can’t have it all.

Great game!!

Quite a few of us have been playing on Nvidia GeForce now, it’s been my first dalliance with streamed gaming and I’ve been really impressed with it

oh glad there is a thread. this is my favorite game in decades, unbelievably well-thought out. i imagine having a team of five helped. great fun with friends, finally getting to plains and swamps and it's a lot of spooky fun

i love how the resource tree expands while not siloing too much. like right now our bottleneck is resin! but we'd been focusing on iron, so we need to adjust

one month passes...

Ive just started solo playing this. I'm still extremely noob-exposed, and had to run screaming from a giant troll i stumbled across as it was clear I had no chance.

I managed to die, in a dungeon, with a ton of loot on me and it took 5 very sweary retries to get it all fecking back.
