The Rutles had some great ones that transcended the parody bit ("Cheese and Onions" is majestic, "Get Up And Go" is almost better than "Get Back," and "I Must Be In Love" would have been huge in 1965).

The Beets really did have something good going on, especially when they got Mr. Bone in with the yodelling. Doug and Skeeter's little garbage can band has also always sort of been the archetype of what I would want making musc to be like...

But the absolute definitive winner and still champeen of the thread is and always will be Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Far and away.

Yet unmentioned: Those sexy gals from NJ who are big in outer space but can barely get arrested on earth, Krazy, Honey and Woo-Woo, coming together as "Yeah!" (exclamation mark included)

Also, "Leonard and the Love Gods" from Hate comix.

I seem to remember Denise Huxtable being really into the Walking Lemons. I trust Denise Huxtable's taste.

On the inner cover of Half Man Half Biscuit's Cammell Laird Social Club, there is an "Also available:" section where a number of fictional albums are pictured. Alongside Jack Charlton Reads The Book of Job, my favourite is probably Those Bones by The Correct Speech Gospel Quartet.

Georgie Saint and the Sinners.

If anyone remembers seventies australian soap "The Young Doctors" Georgie Saint was the hunky lead singer; looked liek a genetic boss eyed hybrid of leif garret and hulk hogan, think a young Nick Nolte with a lemon juice bleached perm, or a lost member of Razorlight.

If that's not enough then there's always Figrin Da'n and the Modal Nodes from the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine.

The Three Little Bops from Looney Tunes. It was the story of the Three Little Pigs, but in this version they had a jazz band, and instead of wanting to eat them, the big bad wolf wanted to join the band. Unfortunately the wolf was pretty much tone deaf until he managed to kill himself, but "didn't go to heaven, was the other place".

The moral of the story was explained by one of the pigs:

The big, bad wolf, he learned the rules! You gotta get hot to play real cool!

My favouritey band is of course one which I made up- with my cranium!!!!! In the naughty nineties!!!! The beat combo's nomenclature was Vigilante Shipbuilders, and they were as Seventies type might sat, a power trio supergroup: of Missy Elliot (Lead vocals, beats, production), Danny MacNamara from Embrace (Vocals, guitars, and friend of Paul Weller- very important in the 90's!!!!!!), and Danbert Nobacon (Vocals, Political Strategist) from
Chumbawumba!!!!!!!

If they existed, they would have packed out stadiums!!!!!!
