Confounded, Sunday, 13 April 2008 06:44 (sixteen years ago) link

How very odd. No basenjis I know give kisses.

Your dog is the cuetest, gradee.

Abbott, Sunday, 13 April 2008 20:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Is that yr new dog, Rock? It looks like such a SWEETIE!

Abbott, Sunday, 13 April 2008 20:02 (sixteen years ago) link

It is! We went to Tupelo for a bunch of non-dog errands, went to the big flea market, and wound up with this little dude.

Name?

Oilyrags, Sunday, 13 April 2008 20:25 (sixteen years ago) link

My wife says Gypsy, but I'm not convinced.

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 13 April 2008 20:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I'd go with one of the other Outsiders. Possibly Metamorpho.

Oilyrags, Sunday, 13 April 2008 20:28 (sixteen years ago) link

He looks a little bit *shy*.

Poor little guy. It took two hours to get all that fur off him and as you can see it's not nearly finished, we just didn't want to stress him out any further for the night. This week is round two. Right now it kind of looks like he is wearing Uggs.

We also washed him a little while ago. I'm worried he's going to plot something evil to make up for our poor treatment of him...

He's such a joy to have around, life with a puppy (he's about 5 months now, give or take) is so fulfilling!

oh man the cuetness

jhøshea, Monday, 14 April 2008 16:22 (sixteen years ago) link

oh, and also, my Grandma calls him her Granddog and bought him a jean jacket, a hoodie, and knit him booties in March.

I'll stop now, sorry! I just forgot to keep updating this thread and Max deserves fame & recognition!

The nose on Rock's dawg = awwwwww. Looks like an Oliver, as in 'please, Sir...'

suzy, Monday, 14 April 2008 16:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Stop putting clothes on dogs!

beyond that, it is always terrible how much dogs hate having their baths. A bit like me! Woaaah!

The Real Dirty Vicar, Monday, 14 April 2008 16:50 (sixteen years ago) link

I hate clothes on dogs. The only exception is when a small puppy is little enough to fit in a footie sock, thus turning it into a papoose kind of thing.

suzy, Monday, 14 April 2008 17:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Dogs on clothes isn't so great either. Have you seen my lint brush?

Oilyrags, Monday, 14 April 2008 17:10 (sixteen years ago) link

I have no beef against little dog clothes on shorthair breeds in the dead of winter when they're taken out for a walk, or against bandanas on Pomeranians. Otherwise, no.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 14 April 2008 17:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Pokemanians?

My sister-in-law ordered her dogs each knitted hoodies from ANTHROPOLOGIE. They also have Sherlock Holmes outfits.

Abbott, Monday, 14 April 2008 17:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, in the winter Toronto just went through, clothes on that puppy were a necessity. That's also the reason we let his fur get so long/poofy. It's been really cold this winter, with snowbanks 2-3 feet high! My poor puppy actually shivered noticeably even with the hoodie on. Also, you don't deny your Grandmother without great-grandkids the chance to clothe/bathe someone in affection, even if it doesn't speak English! Buying Max has put off the "I want great grandkids" discussion for another few years...

Puppy's first year of camping in the rain!

He's getting neutered today, poor thing. This is my first night away from him and I miss him!

mudfoot pic is great too

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 13:05 (fifteen years ago) link

I need to post new pics of Gypsy. You know how you can kind of get an idea about a dog's adult size by the size of their paws as puppies? Apparently this is going to be the world's 1st 50-lb. Cavapoo.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 17:54 (fifteen years ago) link

Awwwww muddy puppy paws.

Abbott, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 19:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Abbott, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 19:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Finefinemusic, that pic is mid-jump, just before you took a lapful of mud, right?

suzy, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 19:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Maxwell is awesome. Need more pix. And movies. Def movies.

Scik Mouthy, Thursday, 29 May 2008 15:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Oddly the Bichon next to my mom's place is Maxine.

suzy, Thursday, 29 May 2008 15:44 (fifteen years ago) link

Apparently Max is a very common name for Bichons! *shrug* Who knew? We named him after the Beatles song after compiling a huge list of names - I was actually rooting for "Killer" but the boyfriend would have none of it :P

The picture wasn't midjump though, he's got this weird trick where he just randomly stands on his hind legs for ten seconds at a time and jumps down again. Such a weird dog.

He's doing well post-surgery! They shaved a bit of one of his legs to put the IV in, so his coat looks extra stupid now :P Poor thing.

We've just moved to an apartment in a triplex with a private backyard, so life is about to get a lot more awesome for the little guy!

Sadly I do have movies.. I've become *that* person. I used to videotape drunken singalongs, now I tape amusing fetch sessions. Sigh. Once we're sorted at home I may upload something to Youtube; can't remember if I actually have a video that's interesting in the slightest.

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 29 May 2008 17:33 (fifteen years ago) link

so many fuckin dogs named max

max, Thursday, 29 May 2008 17:34 (fifteen years ago) link

Here he is playing in the backyard at my Grandparents' house yesterday (they watched him while we moved.. my Grandma is dangerously in love with him and will probably write me out of the will in favour of this dog)

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2004/2534463118_b019488362.jpg

You can sort of see his new punk/poodle look on the right front leg.

Sorry Max! :(

Even the Grinch's was. (xpost)

Jaq, Thursday, 29 May 2008 17:44 (fifteen years ago) link

aw, he is gorgeous. my dog is a bichon maltese x, but has more of the looks and personality of a bichon. he looks very similar to max and he is a darling, a cheerful playful goodnatured smart little dog.

estela, Thursday, 29 May 2008 21:30 (fifteen years ago) link

a co-worker just brought in her doggy to the office -- it was a 7 month old american mastiff and seriously HUGE, really sweet, but apparently not even half the size he will eventually be. scary giant monster puppy of sweetness!
