WHERE DID MORTAL KOMBAT GO WRONG

Only one of those I've played are Streetfighter II. I used to like MK1 and 2 on the SNES. I getcha though, just impressed they've managed to do so many, topping them every few years like the FIFA games

just watched mortal kombat (2021) and honestly couldn't have asked for anything more than what i got.

sold!

it has:

2-3 really nicely staged and executed scenes
2-3 performances with enough charisma to carry the terrible dialog (though sadly not the lead guy who is basically one of derek zoolander's model friends enlisted to act)
3-4 moments that will make you go yesssssss if you have any affection at all for the games
1 very funny, subtle-enough callback to the gameplay of the first couple editions that should make you smile

as an object of IP care and feeding it does more than enough

so cheesy, total fan service. story very clunky, but as B-grade schlock, good!

Sounds good to me. I am a fan of the very silly '95 movie and was worried this was going to be like a Zack Snyder take on the IP

yeah I just assumed that what this movie was gonna be so I didn't have much interest in seeing it. if it's ridiculous and stupid I might watch it after all.

there are some funny moments but i was frequently bored. suffered from a lack of lambert. all the casting is terrible imo.

Watched it last night. While it *was* stupid, it also wasn't very much fun outside of a handful of the fight scenes. I feel like this property would be better served Netflix Castlevania-style as an OTT gory animated series.
