They say the rock shit, doesn't rock anymore
They say the whole game done went pop so I'm back in this ho
We drinking gin till we pass out and fall on the floor
Is that your bitch, 'cause she told me she's ready to go?
They say the rock shit, doesn't rock anymore
They say the whole game done went pop so I'm back in this ho
We drinking gin till we pass out and fall on the floor
Is that your bitch, 'cause she told me she's ready to go?
She's ready to go, she's ready to go
Is that your bitch, 'cause she told me she's ready to go?
She's ready to go, she's ready to go
Is that your bitch, 'cause she told me she's ready to go?
Back, it's the motherfucking rock god

Bitch get at me if that ass is like Jessica Biel's
Who down with me tonight? You know I'll treat you right
You shake for me until they turning on them ugly lights
Throw them fingers up, and finger fuck the sky
She like the way we pump it, I call her pumpkin pie
I ain't about to lie, I came up in it high
You got a problem, I'll bust you in your fucking eye, player
(Baby you're a rockstar) I know who the fuck I am
Forty million records later, I am still the fucking man

Now she at my house sliding up and down that pole
[Lil Wayne] What the fuck is up, uh?
Fuck the world, bust a nut

Everything I touch turn to gold, she a gold digger
Shots, shots, shots, have a lil' liquor
Got the bitch taking shots like Reggie Miller
Uh, Lil Weezy in this bitch ho

And now they wanna copy me like ten-fo'

Now I'm free-falling, yeah, head first
Red hat to the back like Fred Durst, uh
[Durst] They say the rock shit, doesn't rock anymore (uh, yeah)
They say the whole game done went pop so I'm back in this ho (young money)
We drinking gin till we pass out and fall on the floor (yeah)
Is that your bitch, 'cause she told me she's ready to go?
They say the rock shit, doesn't rock anymore
They say the whole game done went pop so I'm back in this ho
We drinking gin till we pass out and fall on the floor
Is that your bitch, 'cause she told me she's ready to go?
She's ready to go, she's ready to go

And you know I put it down like no one else

I was 12 and weighed about 100 pounds so the mosh pit was quite overwhelming

three dollar bill yall > chocolate starfish > significant other

significant other is an amazing-sounding record and i enjoy the kitchen sink parts of it, like, who would ever want a limp bizkit song with strings??? yet there is one and it rocks (“don’t go off wandering”). i think it just has one too many songs about how cool it is to be in a band (“nineteen ninety nine” vs. “show me what you got”) and “no sex” is embarrassing. “a lesson learned” is a trip-hop song

chocolate starfish feels just ever-so-slightly more accomplished musically, the songs all have interesting twists or weird harmonic things going on (cf. the riff in “rollin”). as for fred durst......... well one side effect of his limitations as a rapper and his v whiny grapplings with fame is that this record is very fucking funny. this is dedicated to you ben stiller!!!! you are my favorite motherfuckaer

one of the best rhythm sections of any rock band... ever. and dj lethal is awesome

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 05:28 (three years ago) link

that's pushing it imo but sam rivers is def an underrated bassist.

billstevejim, Thursday, 18 February 2021 15:39 (three years ago) link

it's sort of an rhcp effect, fundamentally great band with a frontman i would find repellant if he weren't so central to the band's identity

borland and frusciante have a lot of overlap in both attitude and playing

prob an essay to be written about scott weiland's relationship with this band. i've always loved this very weird and creepy song, and i just learned that this guitar solos-averse band sorta capitulated by giving john otto a huge drum solo during the bridge of this thing

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 15:50 (three years ago) link

I am getting the sense that you're on a serious nu-metal / rap-rock nostalgia kick based on the collection of bands you're reflecting on across multiple threads. Or is it just confirmation bias?

Evan, Thursday, 18 February 2021 16:04 (three years ago) link

i watched the movie valentine last weekend and there's a scene where a huge valentine's day party is soundtracked by orgy's "opticon," which has brought me to this point, yes

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 18 February 2021 16:41 (three years ago) link

why is this controversial???? i really like otto. the dj lethal productions ("n 2gether now" and "getcha groove on") are fuckin sick!

*relistens to "counterfeit"* i am correct

Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha has distanced himself from Limp Bizkit, stating that "they suck".[127]

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 16:54 (three years ago) link

John Otto is such a leaden, funkless drummer for an ostensibly hip-hop band. Compared to like, Mike Bordin or Chad Smith or Brad Wilk or even David Silvera it's like just macho slamming

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 18 February 2021 16:54 (three years ago) link

i do not really hear that at all but fair, i do not know from good drumming

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 16:58 (three years ago) link

... i think he's much better than david silvera after the first two korn records tho

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 16:59 (three years ago) link

i def don't hear it as exclusively macho slamming as well! like. "re-arranged"???

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:01 (three years ago) link

haha brad i love you but it's killing me that the goalposts have moved from "one of the best rock drummers in any band" to "better than the guy from korn (after the first two albums)"

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:08 (three years ago) link

i'm not even shifting goalposts just questioning my own taste!!! i actually have very controversial opinions about david silvera that i feel weird airing out bc i'm not like a good drummer or anything and i apparently enjoy funkless, leaden drummers

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:09 (three years ago) link

(fieldy made silvera sound better than he was, and his gradual disinterest toward doing anything interesting with his playing over the course of several korn records makes me kinda hate him, tbh)

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:10 (three years ago) link

hey everyone likes what they like

LB's drummer always seemed...okay? fine?

i definitely like LB better than korn, i don't have time for all that jonathan davis goth oogityboogity shit, give me my red hatted goofball and i'll be feelin them lighters in biloxi

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:12 (three years ago) link

would also like to add that ideally all bass players should make the drummer sound better than they are

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:13 (three years ago) link

I have obviously spent a lot of time with Silvera's drumming on the first two Korn albums and while he wasn't the most graceful or effortless drummer, he was really inventive and came up with a lot of little tricks that I've been using for years. This thing grooves and the fills around 0:25 and 0:40 are totally weird.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:19 (three years ago) link

the fills on the first korn record are totally sick and are one of the main attractions i agree

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:20 (three years ago) link

my favorite rock rhythm section will prob always be chi/abe cunningham for perspective

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:22 (three years ago) link

i guess the thing i really like about limp's rhythm section is it's very fusion-y? otto aside, rivers' playing is totally in this constantly bending melodic-and-rhythmic fusion space

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 17:34 (three years ago) link

Have you gotten your Sam Rivers' confused?

Brad, otm.

Eat You Alive is probably the one that left the biggest impression on me, though that impression has changed over the years from surprise, to cringe, to now hilarious, and would probably be the one I would do at karaoke, which is a big factor in how I judge song quality. That being said, I gotta go with Rollin' since I requested it at a one of the in school dances in 6th grade.

this song feels like Fred downloaded a pack of Limp Bizkit samples from FTP site, then spent a happy three-day weekend playing around in GarageBand.

The whole Dad Vibes thing made me think, aw, maybe Durst has some little shorties running around these days in his mellow years, but his kids are like 20 and 31

On October 6, 2018, Shaggy 2 Dope from hip hop duo Insane Clown Posse attempted to dropkick Durst during a performance of the song "Faith". DJ Lethal from Limp Bizkit responded on Instagram Live calling Shaggy a "clout chaser".[63]

xp maybe he's got more than that! a buddy of mine went to school with a girl whose Dad was Darius Rucker, born 9 months after Hootie played a show in Madison. apparently every time that Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch commercial came on TV her roommates would all shout "look! your dad's on TV!!"

while Faith No More vocalist Mike Patton paraphrased the quote attributed to Götz von Berlichingen, Er kann mich am Arsch lecken – "He can lick my ass", when asked by a German reporter about Durst's interest in releasing his music through Interscope Records.[139]

I kind of empathize for Durst. Dude seems like an earnest dorkus who just wants to bang models and play caveman riffs and listen to the Smiths but turned himself into music's whipping boy, perhaps as a defense mechanism, perhaps because he's not clever enough to turn himself into a 50 Cent-style heel, perhaps because he's not confident/rich enough to be an ICP-style "we're gonna do our thing regardless." He's worked with Pauly Shore and Corey Feldman and John Travolta, all of whom kind of have the same vibe of like fairly talented guys who clearly love their medium but don't really have the same artistic insight that drives their peers
