I have a friend who shares the name of famous actor Richard H@rris, and who one day in Prague spotted an old aquaintance from Bucharest up the street, disappearing into a crowd. He started calling after him, "Mike! Mike!" and then took up chase, weaving in and out of others, calling "Mike!"

Finally catching up to him, winded, he took him by the shoulder, "Mike!" The man turned around. "Mike! It's me, Richard H@arris! From Bucharest!" The man was startled, and nonplussed, because he was Dustin Hoffman.

it reminds me of the time i met an irish gay in london and he looked familiar and so i assumed i must know him somehow and started asking him all kinds of veiled questions about people he might knew interminably before finally just coming out and asking him how i might know him and he said "have you ever heard of the band westlife?"

the comic itself looks cringey as hell and JDP comes off as flattered/excited to me there, bad idea all around

Peterson almost died on a years long exercise to prove to the world he is a notable intellectual and not a proto-fascist self help guru, I will forever feel a sense of insecurity in him in that regard. For all the bad stuff we can say about that idiot, he does dislike the concept of white pride. I don't think he will be flattered to be the inspiration for a new rendition for one of the most famous fictional nazis we have today.

Being parodied as a supervillain by a leading liberal would be a badge of honor for someone like him, as Keith Olbermann would still be talking about it if Trump had given him a mean nickname on Twitter in 2017.

Would need to read the whole comic, but those panels seem a little “on the nose.” The idea is that red skull is using petersonesque self help to lure alienated white men into his evil schemes?

It does seem to be from the "tell don't show" school of narrative fiction, weird choice for a visual medium IMO.

The Coates run on Black Panther was close to unreadable imo. A rare occasion where an outsider coming in actually resulted in a more convoluted and harder to follow comic than if it had been one of the regular continuity hacks. Being a good essayist doesn't mean you're good at fiction, and scripting comics is yet another toolset altogether - but tbf the comics industry has rolled out the red carpet for writers far far worse at it than Coates.

In promo interviews he said he’d never read any comics other than Marvel comics, which didn’t bode well for someone adapting to a new medium.
