by his questions and demeanour that he's been teaching for a while):

Can't remember whether this was recommended on here or elsewhere, but this record is just menacing enough to keep the ambient vibes interesting

I think I posted that one on the slack a few weeks ago. Yeah it’s very good. The label, geometric lullaby, should not be slept on

way back when Hannibal ended I made a playlist to keep the mood and rough sound of the OST going....not sure how well I did at the stated goal but it's a pretty solid playlist imho

Great return lp by the visceral rocker, here backed by a more consciously funky band than at his 50s peak. He still has the fireball vocal impact of those days but music's impact has changed. They are really infectious in teh hips etc which is probably what the players on teh Speialty stuff were also going for come to think of things. Dang funky anyway.
LOve thsi lp and it has me looking around at what other Southern soul/funk has a similar impact.
I have this on the BGO 3lps on 2cds set which means its followed up by the King of Rock & Roll which I think works less well. That's interspersed by skit like carnival huckster like outbursts by Richard. Maybe it will grow on me but I think it has cheesier covers even if the playing is actually as good when it's allowed to bubble fully.
I might get the recent reissue of this on Omnivore which has bonus tracks and better more specific liner notes still. Fantastic record, I need to hear The Second Coning the 3rd lp on this set yet.

Italian prog from 1973. This Btf verwion rearranges the tracklisting and retitles the tracks back to what the band had initially meant them to be.
IT's pretty good stuff I think.

So far I've got as far as listening to the 1st disc several times . Blooming great stuff, so I'm looking forward to hearing the rest.
I have tried to record Cissy Strut as my phone ringtone but may need to get a louder recording.
I think the word superlative needs to be used to describe this stuff really. Fundamental really.
Got given this asa replacement Xmas present after the Trees box set didn't turn up for a month. THink I have a different version of that on its way to me sometime this week.
But this is the biz innit.

Good ambient noise

to party with our demons (Sund4r), Saturday, 13 February 2021 03:46 (three years ago) link

sorry, that’s Sundry Rock Stock by Yves Jarvis.

brimstead, Sunday, 14 February 2021 04:32 (three years ago) link

“I experienced a musical breakthrough with that bright, easy sound of my last two albums,” says Jarvis. “It felt good to make at the time, but it counters my essence. People think I’m calm, but I’m very not calm, and I’m happy to elaborate on it now. This album came together exceptionally easy in reaction to that nighttime shit. This green is epitomized. This album is reduced.”
