buddies doing well though eh

Microscopic mercies.

Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Saturday, 30 January 2021 19:05 (three years ago) link

At least lockdown means the St Mirren fans are out of my actual line of vision in pubs. Apart from smug best mate who has moved beyond mocking to mere patronising now :-(

ailsa, Sunday, 31 January 2021 14:22 (three years ago) link

I'm seeing a few COYS on Facebook.

Another victim of cancel culture.

fairly tame compared to other things men involved in the broadcast of football in britain have said on air

Happy, needlessly provocative, days. Well, not needlessly.

Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Saturday, 6 February 2021 13:44 (three years ago) link

It's something when you play so badly and win 4-0.

lenny-ball gone good

10 in a row back on.

Byeeee! Bring on, er, John Kennedy. That'll sort it.

ailsa, Wednesday, 24 February 2021 20:11 (three years ago) link

just seems a ludicrous situation. they obviously decided months ago he was to be here til the end of the season - probably didn't fancy paying him off - and they wouldn't bother their arse looking at anyone else in the interim. eventually they somehow came to the conclusion they couldnt keep the circus going any longer, but just bringing in JK as interim manager seems like a waste of time? it also brings the worrying thought: if JK does well in the remainder of the season will they appoint him on a permanent basis. wouldn't put it past them!

himpathy with the devil (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 24 February 2021 20:26 (three years ago) link

Watching Saints win a Cup remotely was less nerve-wracking than being there but also a lot less fun.

hamicle, Sunday, 28 February 2021 16:16 (three years ago) link

We'll done St J!

Shame it wasn't covered on terrestrial TV.

Punk's Daft (onimo), Sunday, 28 February 2021 16:38 (three years ago) link

Yeah, ridiculous for it to be bunged away on Premier Sports. Well done, had fully intended to try and track it down somehow but, um, didn't (after having a good whinge about the Premier Sports bollocks on Twitter this morning)

ailsa, Sunday, 28 February 2021 19:01 (three years ago) link

I'd paid for Premier Sports last month for the semi-final last month and let it roll over for the final. Annoyingly when I cancelled it after they offered me three months for £5.99, maybe I should have done that last week!

I'd say no-one missed too much not seeing the game; it was hard fought and I thought we played decently when we had more of the ball but Livi didn't offer much. The semi-final against Hibs was a much better watch.

hamicle, Sunday, 28 February 2021 19:14 (three years ago) link

Yes, well done St Johnstone, even though you put out St Mirren in the semis.

Punk's not daft (Tom D.), Sunday, 28 February 2021 19:42 (three years ago) link

I'm well used to watching tedious matches this season, be good to have watched one with something at stake :-)

ailsa, Sunday, 28 February 2021 19:52 (three years ago) link

McInnes out, apparently.

Punk's Daft (onimo), Monday, 8 March 2021 20:47 (three years ago) link

Nicely set up for the Rangers' job when Gerrard goes to Anfield.

Suggest Banazir (onimo), Friday, 19 March 2021 21:12 (three years ago) link

Only 330 years behind the rest of us. Slavia and a section of their fans can get tae though.

Watching a few of them still persisting with the idea that Roofe got the ball and therefore it's ok to nearly decapitate the Slavia goalie is fun.

The narrative around Sunday's game is some bullshit though. "Please stay home" = we're no' giving you *more* selfie opportunities and *another* police escort up to a covid-fest, there might be Tims at this one.

ailsa, Friday, 19 March 2021 23:30 (three years ago) link

Front page of the Record on fans potentially going to the stadium:

TURN UP AND YOU'LL BE LOCKED UP
Senior cop says arrests will be made

Slightly different from the approach at Ibrox with the police escort to the George Square wrecking spree.

Suggest Banazir (onimo), Saturday, 20 March 2021 12:18 (three years ago) link

It's ridiculous how much effort the club is putting into the stay at home message.
Like are there really thousands of Celtic fans desperate to storm the streets at the prospect of John Kennedy squeaking a home win in a dead rubber?

Suggest Banazir (onimo), Sunday, 21 March 2021 11:33 (three years ago) link

There's no accounting for random heid-the-ba's but I think I'd rather be anywhere on Earth doing anything else.

himpathy with the devil (jim in vancouver), Monday, 22 March 2021 18:47 (three years ago) link

scott brown will be a don next year.

end of an era.

knowing celtic, we won't strengthen sufficiently in the summer, and he'll come visiting and boss the midfield :/

on the other hand he's been crap - with notable exceptions - for about 2 year

Scotland are playing Israel.

Again.

It's rubbish.

Suggest Banazir (onimo), Sunday, 28 March 2021 19:17 (three years ago) link

And they're getting beat, but they played three times last year and didn't beat them once, penalty shootouts aside.

Duncan Disorderly (Tom D.), Sunday, 28 March 2021 19:48 (three years ago) link

In the year 3043 Scotland and Israel shared the spoils in yet another closely contested match, their 5423th in recent years. No-one remembers how or why this started but both sides know that it must not end.

will this season ever end

《Myst1kOblivi0n》 (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 21 April 2021 19:53 (two years ago) link

I've never cared less about a season of football in my life. It actually appears to have transcended lockdown and be operating in its own never-ending time loop.

ailsa, Thursday, 22 April 2021 09:06 (two years ago) link

OTM. Will the pandemic make me hate the game I love?

Authoritarian Steaks (Tom D.), Thursday, 22 April 2021 10:46 (two years ago) link

....I dunno, some of us are dreaming of a historic Cup double!

hamicle, Thursday, 22 April 2021 18:27 (two years ago) link

im worried that Mr Gerrard's unstoppable domestic juggernaut will be winning it

《Myst1kOblivi0n》 (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 22 April 2021 18:29 (two years ago) link

St Mirren the only Scottish team to beat them this season I believe?

Authoritarian Steaks (Tom D.), Thursday, 22 April 2021 20:07 (two years ago) link

You are correct.

My hopes aren’t too high for Sunday. We’ve had close games with them this season but I get the impression last night was our chance for a win but wasn’t to be. Rangers have a lot more options at their disposal to change things for Sunday.

hamicle, Thursday, 22 April 2021 22:56 (two years ago) link

There's got to be some mileage to be had here with Rangers having a problem with saints.
