I'll use my favourite phrase I inherited from my dad:
cheerio tae fuck!

Am nicking that phrase, say thanks to your dad from me!
Can't exactly say I'm lamenting the departure of Lawwell, but I hope the new guy pisses off the other side as much:
Lawwell was a massive part of the treatment Rangers received in 2012. Forcibly made sure we were crushed. He had his tentacles into everything and everyone. He is a cancer to the Scottish game and a bully who has held a dark cloud over chairman, SPFL and others.Good Riddance— MacGerrard ☕️ (@MacGerrard_) January 29, 2021
(Replies also contain hilarious revisionism over the end of the 2007/8 season)

cleaning house at the end of the season makes sense. a shame that the science of the management of football clubs doesn't really exist. in north american sports there's a real stress on the "front office" and all that that entails, and people get fired a lot more often for not doing a good job. it almost feels churlish to be mad at lawwell when he has presided over a lot of success, but the ronny deila and lennon appointments were dire, and there is always the feeling that significant things like bringing in the rat rodgers always come from desmond
― Dusty Benelux (jim in vancouver), Friday, 29 January 2021 18:22 (three years ago) link
also of course the success when rangers weren't in the top division shouldn't be asterisked and you can only beat what's in front of you etc. but really any cunt could have presided over success in those years
― Dusty Benelux (jim in vancouver), Friday, 29 January 2021 18:28 (three years ago) link
Genuinely rather go with 10 men than see Shane Duffy near our pitch.

just seems a ludicrous situation. they obviously decided months ago he was to be here til the end of the season - probably didn't fancy paying him off - and they wouldn't bother their arse looking at anyone else in the interim. eventually they somehow came to the conclusion they couldnt keep the circus going any longer, but just bringing in JK as interim manager seems like a waste of time? it also brings the worrying thought: if JK does well in the remainder of the season will they appoint him on a permanent basis. wouldn't put it past them!

Yeah, ridiculous for it to be bunged away on Premier Sports. Well done, had fully intended to try and track it down somehow but, um, didn't (after having a good whinge about the Premier Sports bollocks on Twitter this morning)
― ailsa, Sunday, 28 February 2021 19:01 (three years ago) link
I'd paid for Premier Sports last month for the semi-final last month and let it roll over for the final. Annoyingly when I cancelled it after they offered me three months for £5.99, maybe I should have done that last week!
I'd say no-one missed too much not seeing the game; it was hard fought and I thought we played decently when we had more of the ball but Livi didn't offer much. The semi-final against Hibs was a much better watch.
― hamicle, Sunday, 28 February 2021 19:14 (three years ago) link
Yes, well done St Johnstone, even though you put out St Mirren in the semis.

Only 330 years behind the rest of us. Slavia and a section of their fans can get tae though.
Watching a few of them still persisting with the idea that Roofe got the ball and therefore it's ok to nearly decapitate the Slavia goalie is fun.
The narrative around Sunday's game is some bullshit though. "Please stay home" = we're no' giving you *more* selfie opportunities and *another* police escort up to a covid-fest, there might be Tims at this one.

Front page of the Record on fans potentially going to the stadium:
TURN UP AND YOU'LL BE LOCKED UPSenior cop says arrests will be made
Slightly different from the approach at Ibrox with the police escort to the George Square wrecking spree.
― Suggest Banazir (onimo), Saturday, 20 March 2021 12:18 (three years ago) link
It's ridiculous how much effort the club is putting into the stay at home message. Like are there really thousands of Celtic fans desperate to storm the streets at the prospect of John Kennedy squeaking a home win in a dead rubber?

In the year 3043 Scotland and Israel shared the spoils in yet another closely contested match, their 5423th in recent years. No-one remembers how or why this started but both sides know that it must not end.
