How many self-described religious folks believe in God/gods? etc.

Haha i totally get the Ted Rogers thing.

piscesx, Thursday, 21 January 2021 22:06 (three years ago) link

yes many people believed it and many still do. i saw some meme account on IG post some meme making fun of Q believers because of Biden's inauguration and there were multiple comments in the vain of "trust the plan", "this is going to look stupid in a couple of weeks", clicking through to the user's accounts showed that they were mainly in earnest

It is to laugh

This is playing out over and over again on the QAnon/pro-Trump internet. Whenever someone suggests taking real action, like voting, organizing, forming a new political party, running for office, etc. the response is always the same: Elections are rigged, so it won't matter. pic.twitter.com/TjFtgS0H4f

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 21 January 2021 22:15 (three years ago) link

in the sense that elections are generally rigged to prevent lunatics from getting elected to pursue batshit conspiracy theories, yes. these people should be satisfied with the number of nuts they get through as it is.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 21 January 2021 22:18 (three years ago) link

Belief isn't an all or nothing thing. I think part of the QAnon phenomenon is that believers mostly began by allowing themselves to believe in the possibility that the Q mythology was based in truth. They just gave it a chance. The rest of the work was done by crowd psychology and the seductive nature of the Q mythos, which offered them simple enemies with purely evil motives who would be summarily dealt with by simple retributive justice in the end.

The fact that none of this was detectable in visible reality was easily explained by the super-secret nature of the evil conspiracy and the righteous counter-conspiracy. Q was the prophet who gave them tiny glimpses into the complex machinations of both sides and this solidified its 'reality'. As soon as you believed in Q's reality, you got sucked into the vortex.

I’m okay if they are too demoralized to do anything, including random violence.

Boring United Methodist Church (Boring, Maryland), Thursday, 21 January 2021 22:19 (three years ago) link

For most of them the excitement was in waiting for it all to go down, like kids waiting for Christmas to come. There will be a few who wanted the public executions of their named and known 'enemies' (e.g. Democrats in Congress and state governments) so all-consumingly that when they realize nobody's going to do it for them, they'll start seeking another way for it to happen.

Meantime, speaking of court, this thread details an attempt to talk about all the fraud and horribleness that everyone who is not Trump allegedly did to keep Trump from winning. It is of course garbage. But you might want to read a stretch of it based around this tweet where the people filing suit try to invoke Tolkien. It doesn't go very well.

And this is an epic footnote.

First of all, they forgot to include a proper citation and pincite.

The most surprising thing I've learned over the last couple of months is that you can file literally any kind of garbage as long as it's in the format of a lawsuit and you somehow won't get catapulted into the sun by the unlucky judge who's forced to entertain it.

one important thing is you have to get lucky and draw one of the 40% of federal judges who are complete jokes

You can file any old garbage--getting even your foot in a courtroom is another matter entirely. The judicial system has had to deal with cranks and loons for two centuries and there are established procedures to pitch out insane lawsuits.

A growing contingent of big-name companies — including Walmart, Starbucks and Microsoft — are teaming up with local governments and medical providers to get coronavirus shots in more people’s arms.

The public-private efforts come as Biden has outlined his plans to combat the virus that has killed more than 400,000 Americans, and they include a goal to administer 100 million vaccines in the first 100 days of his administration. Though at least 38 million doses of the vaccine have been distributed in the United States, just 2.4 million people have been fully vaccinated, according to data tracked by The Washington Post.

read between the "lies" of the lamestream media - Microsoft was once related to a man named Bill Gates. this Bill Gates has been working for YEARS to inject his secret codes into the bodies of people throughout the world, via 5G implants and false "vaccinations".

and now Q, joe biden, is giving Gates the go-ahead to spread his code into American bodies. not sure if this is good or bad, because Biden is Q, but more research is needed

yes, this would be a delightful addendum to his desperate last month. Wake up Sheeple: TikTok users are propagating the idea that an obscure 1871 act made the United States a corporation and not a federal government, thus rendering any laws passed after that year moot and U.S. citizens not subject to them. According to this theory, the United States will revert back to its original form on March 4th, the date when presidents were inaugurated prior to the 1933 passage of the 20th amendment. They believe Trump will be sworn in as the 19th president of the United States. (The 18th president, Ulysses S. Grant, served between 1869 and 1877, or the time period when those who cling to this theory believe the United States “became” a “corporation.”)...

TRUST THE PLAN.. as it evolves beyond recognition
