(I remember someone who worked in housing there in the early 90s telling me that the vast tracts of these back to backs in north-east Leeds were the highest density housing in Europe; even most of those had little front yards.)

If you're right then we've dodged the bullet of having to look at more photos of Leeds.

I lived in two or three back-to-back houses like that in Leeds, they were solidly-built and fine to live in. You really are living close to other people though, you can hear life going on through the walls on three sides.

Best not think about the risk of fire with only one way in and out, of course.

There was the occasion when a friend of mine was up to no good with a young lady in one of these, on the next street along from his actual girlfriend of the time. He hadn’t worked out that these two women’s bedrooms shared a back wall. Unfortunately my friend had an extremely characteristic smoker’s cough at the time and found himself dumped in short order.

I would never have got the Vladivostok one. I came across some good Vladivostok shots a couple of weeks ago and was going to use one. It does have a distinctive feel - but thats in the daytime. Night time shots are really tough

I checked and they have similar lights (that I could fine) but with two bulbs not three (this was near the Duma)

2. Port town
3. If you zoom in, there's a truncated word that gives you a partial clue
