there is a finite number of empty threads available for use

the indexing of threads makes this truer than you might realize, although I'm sure stet has provided for a Very Large Number of available indices

I think Q Anon is irrelevant now basically, just like Trump. The far right will rear its head again but in a different form. Meanwhile we can build a strong, prosperous, inclusive nation on a foundation of social trust, or at least try to do something like that.

thought that title would please everyone

stop what?

just a guess, but maybe stop acting like Biden isn't a massive improvement on a president who openly professed his love for white supremacists and neo-Nazis.

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:21 (three years ago) link

politics is shitty, this is a politics thread, wtf at the sanctimony

as long as "Q" (or whatever its next stupid iteration is called) has representatives in Congress (!) and is actually influencing policy it merits disussion in a politics thread

John Wesley Glasscock (Hadrian VIII), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:22 (three years ago) link

How about Americans stop cross posting the exact same content to multiple threads idk

I think joe biden is malleable honestly. My big things are wealth redistribution and the environment and I think Joe can be moved to do things on both fronts. He was a right wing democrat in the 80s and 90s but that is no longer where the country is and he knows it.

I don't get why there can't be multiple U.S. politics threads for subtopics in U.S. politics, especially given how active the main thread is. There are multiple threads about rock music on ILM.

jaymc, Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:25 (three years ago) link

I'm not optimistic Biden has any more of an inner life than Trump does, but it's probably just "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun" in his head instead of howling pandemonium

Canon in Deez (silby), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 19:26 (three years ago) link

And healthcare. Lot of things to push him on. The country is in dire enough shape that good things could happen. When obama took office there was no squad, no real pressure from the left

― treeship.

i am at heart a troublemaker, i think.

(or is that karl speaking)?

but yeah, honestly, i've been really messed up, in a really weird place, recently. i wish this inauguration stuff would lift me up a little, but i'm feeling more dissociated than ever. i'm hoping that this weirdness, right now, is kind of like puking a bunch after a wild evening. it sucks, it's bad, it acidic as hell, it's going to take some paper towels to clean up in some spots. it's that little swig of water in your mouth afterward, to briefly clean some of the puke remnants out from under the back of the tongue and the roof near the tonsils. but then you brush your teeth, swig some more water, swig some listerine, and go to bed. and when you wake up, about 30 minutes, you go back to the bathroom and you REALLY puke your guts out, and there's that nauseous realization that underneath all the other puke was the true puke. but then you go to bed again, and joe biden is q, probably.

So many of these shitty orders getting undone today. I get that McConnell was an effective leader of the senate for appointments but it doesn’t seem like they accomplished much in the way of legislation that can’t be undone by Biden.

Restoration of Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments to be ordered today at 5:15 pm EST..... https://t.co/gC8aJf1BPb #MonumentsForAll #StandWithBearsEars

Another plus, I guess, it that this thread isn't (yet) 67,000 posts of Bernie sitting forlornly in a chair. Unfortunately that appears to be about all Twitter is capable of processing today.

A former bandmate of mine got pardoned. Can't say I'm surprised, but it's still hilarious to me that he (K3n Kurs0n) was thought to be too toxic by the Trump administration for a post.

Fox News' Sandra Smith wonders if Biden signing executive orders on his first day will show he's not for unity, asking "what message does this send."

'm a little baffled by all the cheering on of Empire that's happening here and elsewhere on the internet, though, so I'm peacing out for now.

― The return of our beloved potatoes (the table is the table)

It was at best an OK show.

meticulously crafted, socially responsible, morally upsta (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 20 January 2021 20:09 (three years ago) link

And, yeah, table, I love you, and I'll tell you the same thing I'd say if we had beers in person: to wish Joe Biden signs meaningful legislation also means a Celebration of the Empire, so I guess all that Benjamin, Adorno, Marcuse, etc. taught me how to do dialectical thinking real good.

In other words, stop virtue signaling. We get it.

in other words, I am really fucking happy Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are in the executive branch again. Joe Biden also sucks.

Some labor news: SEIU has been pressing Biden to immediately fire Peter Robb, the NLRB's Trump-appointed general counsel. That's not normally done under a new prez. It would be a precedent-setting move that shows Biden willing to play hardball for unions https://t.co/IN6NHCYVxS

— Dave Jamieson (@jamieson) January 14, 2021

Scoop w/@josheidelson: Biden demanded the resignation of the federal labor board's top attorney just after being sworn in today. No word yet whether he'll leave voluntarily or force Biden to fire him. https://t.co/iYyDZ6lIio
