So glad Bannon saw the error of his ways and has had the time to feel remorse. Hope he's not going to feel so instutionalsed by his long prison stay that he goes out to commit more crimes to get himself reincarcerated. Do hope that wouldn't be true of any of his buddies either.

I mean old habits die hard and all.
Are bookies running odds yet.

So, by issuing these pardons, does Trump metaphorically take on the guilt of those pardoned?

(I know..)

Focusing on entirely the wrong thing, I know, but smh a bit at "last-minute decision made hours before he’s scheduled to leave the WH".

in the list of pardons I initially mixed up Pelletier with (Leonard) Peltier, but no.

very badly conceived sentence, but about as late as he could email "URGENT" to subordinates, regardless of what time the bloke in the rentavan comes around to take the boxes marked "kitchen stuff" and "blankets" the next morning

That thread above about how trump ruined his life because he was butthurt over being sonned by Obama in a press correspondents dinner beef is intriguing, because the main thrust of that YOU DECIDE documentary that ran just before the 2016 election on US TV laid also out that moment as Trump's motivating moment, the cataclysm that set him on course for the presidency, and it's interesting how quickly everything has fallen apart for him - and how, for so many of us, that falling apart wasn't necessarily inevitable. That moment, now seen as the engine of Trump's destruction, was for four or so years regarded as the motivator for his success.

CNN’s Jim Acosta at Joint Base Andrews, site of Trump farewell rally & departure via Air Force One: ‘There’s no crowd at all here. This might be the smallest Trump rally ever.’

Event was called for audience arrival by 7:15 am.

As of 7:35 am, many more flags than spectators.

The list of actions formally released early Wednesday by his transition team also includes a directive to rejoin the World Health Organization. Biden will dispatch Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease official, to speak at the international group’s executive board meeting on Thursday.

On immigration, Biden will also nullify the Trump administration’s directive that attempted to exclude the counting of noncitizens from the U.S. census.

On climate change, Biden plans to sign an order revoking the permit, issued by the Trump administration, that allowed for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. He will also issue an order to rejoin the Paris climate accord, and the United States will officially be part of the 189-country climate agreement in 30 days.

On racial equity issues, Biden plans to rescind the “1776 Commission” established by the Trump administration, which the outgoing president framed last year as a “pro-American curriculum that celebrates the truth” about U.S. history but which the incoming administration says tries to erase the racial scars of America’s past.

Other directives Biden plans to sign Wednesday signal his priorities, including an order that will require masks on all federal grounds, one of several measures aimed at stemming the pandemic.

Did Nixon ever return to the WH, even once, for so much as a photo opp?

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 20 January 2021 13:19 (three years ago) link

Because the only way this turd is ever returning is in a wheel chair in the stages of something so advanced he doesn't know where he is.

He did -- Reagan snuck him in early '87 to discuss Soviet policy.

Didn't know that (or that Reagan solicited him: always thought it was the way around, with everyone--unsolicited phone calls).

I was just listening to a podcast talking about how a lot of other incumbencies would have spaced their actions out over longer time. like one significant thing a day whereas the new one has just announced a load of things on the first day. BUt it seems like there is so much negative that is leftover from t that they are having to try to clear up so much of it so fast. Can probably announce positive steps they are taking in their own light at the p[ace one might be used to but there's just so much mess to deal with before they can really move on.
Hope it all goes smoothly and Hawley and others don't do their best to compound the mess they made.
