Anyway I think KT's thread here isn't far off, ultimately.

the thing about trump building a new political party is everyone knows he can’t build anything worth a shit but he can sure as hell wreck an existing one like a tomahawk missile strike. have fun!

My guess is that the main thing he's learned about political parties is that they are excellent money-laundering operations. A political party set up as a multi-level marketing scheme could be worth some money before it all went to hell and everyone involved except him went to jail.

My sympathy meter is not very high here. But, worth a read, however exculpatory.

no one thought he could build a campaign either

much easier to do when you've got a political party flush with cash from ridiculously wealthy donors. not to mention the fact that the same networks falling over themselves to give him as much free airtime as possible won't even let him speak live anymore

Probably everyone has seen this, but a dunk is s dunk.

Don’t forget to dress warm tomorrow.

I heard it’s going to be minus 45.

Charlie P., cracking wise and a little hopeful at the moment:
But the most interesting hearing was that of Janet Yellen, the nominee to lead the Treasury Department. Yellen is nobody's idea of a socialist. (Well, she might be Josh Hawley's idea of a socialist, but then again, so was the barista who got his order wrong Monday morning.) Nevertheless, she called for some seriously big government to meet the current crises.

Q Anon is so fucked. Choose your own adventure, but it all ends up leading a repackaged "blood libel" narrative.

can we check the maths on this

xp You mean, the original blood libel against the Jews, or the way Palin applied it to herself when associated w shooting of Gabby Giffords and others that day, just because of her get-out-the-vote rhetoric and visuals? Do Qanon fans think they're being picked on? Hearing that from some other Trump followers online & and on air.

i think Q Anon is repackaged antisemitism. they lure people in but that is the story at the heart of it, one that is old and familiar.

Yeah, eventually someone will say Rothschild. Or Soros, who's the new Rothschild. I think sometimes people who repeat those things are only vaguely if at all aware of the connotations, but that doesn't make it any better. They're still serving as vehicles.

Allegedly he keeps going back and forth. I guess my question is, is the idea that he gets pardoned but the rest of the people indicted with him...don't?

Trump should pardon Biden.

given he's under federal investigation for fraud, it's hard to see how he didn't also commit a bunch of state crimes.

The odds of these turds not committing more crimes in the next few years, while they still have even a sliver of the spotlight, are practically nil. From Trump on down. It'll be like OJ after he was acquitted.

i think he was advised not to pardon anyone related to the 1/6/21 events, which eliminated a lot of people that were also related to other very obvious crimes

Pardoning Bannon is obviously terrible, but it's also almost poetic. If you were writing the play, that's how it has to end, Trump pardoning Bannon.

I give this lengthy joy of a thread. (Remember the lawyer at the insurance firm who was one of the first people identified/trashed on social media because he was so SO blatantly open about it, and who was almost immediately fired? He filed a thing. It's...a lot.)

OK. I promised you a thread on this batshit insane "Keep Trump as President for Life" lawsuit so here it is. The short summary is: "We think there may have been election law violations, so obviously there is no government" https://t.co/dQIuLBAvju

Interested to see what sort of spin the trumpistas put on this. I mean what could anyone possible say? He's pardoned the guy because he may prove useful in the future, that's it. It's beyond corrupt and hopefully will alienate some of the GOP senators

73 pardons, 70 commutations. I don't doubt the theory that he'll save a few of the biggest for tomorrow, as a way to hijack a few last-minute headlines.
