would this be for someone self-teaching? And how much other guitar experience/knowledge do they have, and how much more general musical experience/knowledge do they have?

Let's say pretty knowledgeable musically and an accomplished electronic music producer, but picking up the guitar again after a long absence

Like can they read? Do they know scales? Theory?

Sund4r knows of some good Berklee books, I think. I really like Mick Goodrick’s The Advancing Guitarist, but it’s not quite a method book, more of a deep, how-to-think-about things book.

I love Ted Dunbar's books, but I think they are out of print. They're also a little out there and not 100% user friendly. I think there are pdf copies floating around on the internet.

Do they already know how to play guitar and want to learn jazz?

There is just some really good guitar instructional videos out there. There was one Italian jazz one I found that had a thing on just not moving position or hand and working on intervals right where you are at that kind of opened up some things about the instrument for me.

This one is entertaining. Playing these chords on a guitar are a bitch, but I was messing around doing some jamming with a drum machine having the bass line play the root and playing off it to get this sound.

Hendrix uses this a bunch but he plays it as a arpeggio lick doing that slide up to get the 9.

Def gonna watch that later. I've spent a couple years now learning bluegrass flatpicking and I've been thinking I'd like to add country picking to my skillset.

i didn't realize this thread was on IMM; wish i would've posted the video on ILM. because it's just as interesting to non-players, i think, and was a blast to watch even for somebody not trying to master the history of 20th cen. electric guitar
