Classic
Since Trump’s almost out of office, I figured this would be a fun time to remind everyone of the weirdest & dumbest sh*t our failed dictator did in the last four years that we totally forgot about.Starting with a classic:STARING DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN DURING A SOLAR ECLIPSE pic.twitter.com/XtvDltgJsv— Jules Suzdaltsev (@jules_su) January 12, 2021

from the obit thread-
Dr. Harold Bornstein, Donald Trump's personal physician from 1980 until early 2018, has passed:
https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/nytimes/obituary.aspx?n=harold-bornstein&pid=197497206
In 2018, Bornstein admitted that Trump dictated the letter:
To Whom My[sic] Concern:I have been the personal physician of Mr Donald J. Trump since 1980. His previous physician was my father, Dr Jacob Bornstein. Over the past 39 years, I am pleased to report that Mr Trump has had no significant medical problems. Mr Trump has had a recent complete medical examination that showed only positive results. Actually, his blood pressure, 110/65, and laboratory test results were astonishingly excellent.Over the past twelve months, he has lost at least fifteen pounds, Mr Trump takes 81 mg of aspirin daily and a low dose of a statin. His PSA test score is 0.15 (very low). His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary.Mr Trump has suffered no form of cancer, has never had a hip, knee or shoulder replacement or any other orthopaedic surgery. His only surgery was an appendectomy at age ten. His cardiovascular status is excellent. He has no history of ever using alcohol or tobacco products. If elected, Mr Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.

After The New York Times published a report in 2017 in which Dr. Bornstein said he had prescribed Mr Trump with Propecia, an anti-baldness drug, Trump's bodyguards raided Bornstein's office and removed everything related to the President.

I got a text from an old work colleague I haven't spoke to in years that went: "that president is so bad I'm going to impeach him TWICE!"
I know it isn't funny but it made me laugh like crazy. it comes from an old work joke to do with someone seeing some daft teenager walking out of Spiderman 2 at the cinema and saying: that film is so bad I'm going to watch it TWICE! So at work it became a running joke, like if say you had some onerous task and the boss/evil overseer/ asked for a progress report like say doing power and lighting circuits in some clustered, hot boiler room all in steel conduit you'd say: this boiler room is so bad I'm going to wire it TWICE!

Nice kicker at the end of that story.
"Bannon realized that Trump was repeating the same stories over and over again... and Bannon wanted to do something about it," Rosen explained, adding that Bannon believed he could take over the right-wing movement from Trump.

Occasionally I will think 'lol, remember the time everyone laughed at Bannon because he wore two shirts like an idiot' and then I'll see a picture of Bannon and remember 'oh no, wearing two shirts like an idiot is what he does literally all the time'.
Again, no one who didn't live through this era will believe half of the recounted details about this era.

“He’s said that not being on social media, and not being subject to the hateful echo chamber that social media too frequently becomes, has actually been good,” Miller told the outlet.
I dont believe theres even a ghost of a chance that he would say something like that. Imho the reason for:
it’s been “the first time in years that I saw the president truly relaxed,” Miller told the paper
is that Trump hated being president so. fucking. much.

Trump hated being president so. fucking. much.
Yet he didn't resign from the job, and when he lost the election he spent months desperately trying to hold onto the job, capping it all by committing serious crimes in plain view, all so he wouldn't be forced to leave the job he hated. so. fucking. much.

Both can be true. He hated it but he needed it because it was his shield from prosecution and the taxman and dealing with his debt, and it was the best grift he'd ever lucked into.

Apparently they block PornHub in the WH and Trump was none too pleased with that
― Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 16 February 2021 22:28 (three years ago) link
don’t forget that he toyed with the idea of not even moving into the WH in the first place, he was so grossed out by it.
the stuff he liked about the gig (the title, rallies, being treated like a kingmaker, getting free money from doing crimes) he still has access to postpresidency. The stuff he clearly loathed about it (being in away from his luxury properties, having to occasionally see ppl he didn’t know and listen to stuff he didn’t care about) he doesn’t have to deal with anymore. I’ve got no doubt he’s overjoyed that he never has to set foot in the WH for at least the next 4 years.

The shield from prosecution/taxman and grift are so far down the list of reasons he disputed the election (#s 98-100). IIRC the first 97 reasons are "to shield my massively fragile ego".
