i don't really care (do u?) if Trump is happy or not but it raises the question of which despots at least seemed to be enjoying themselves in the moment. mussolini appeared to be mostly having a good time!

Most of them except Cromwell, who didn't approve of happiness.

there's kind of a drug fiend element to the rallies he does. I feel like in 2016 they legitimately made him feel good but now it's kind of a sad charade, even when there's all the applause and chanting of his name it looks like such a pained smile now

I got a text from an old work colleague I haven't spoke to in years that went: "that president is so bad I'm going to impeach him TWICE!"

I know it isn't funny but it made me laugh like crazy. it comes from an old work joke to do with someone seeing some daft teenager walking out of Spiderman 2 at the cinema and saying: that film is so bad I'm going to watch it TWICE! So at work it became a running joke, like if say you had some onerous task and the boss/evil overseer/ asked for a progress report like say doing power and lighting circuits in some clustered, hot boiler room all in steel conduit you'd say: this boiler room is so bad I'm going to wire it TWICE!

beyond the 'weirdness' those clips portray many signature moves of a bully and demagogue. they mostly seem weird to people who don't respond with adoration to all those cues.
