well god knows i forgot to nominate anything for this, i’ll try and put a ballot together anyway

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Monday, 4 January 2021 17:42 (three years ago) link

Oh and a reminder that your ballots can include up to 25 “tier one” movies (ranked, unranked, or a combo thereof). And the an additional up to 100 “honorable mention” picks, which get significantly fewer points but, hey, if you wanna push some movie’s chances go for it.

No pressure, but if those of you voting at all have the wherewithal to rank out your top tier 25, please do, or we might end up with lots and lots of ties.

On average, this critic grades 8.3 points lower than other critics (Eric H.), Tuesday, 5 January 2021 16:48 (three years ago) link

the up to 100 honorable mentions are unranked or can also be ranked?

٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Tuesday, 5 January 2021 16:53 (three years ago) link

No, those should just be unranked ... they're worth the same smaller amount of points whether you name 1 or 100.

I don't want to start another poll while one's still running, but we've only ever reached 30 ballots once in the yearly polls, so it might take a few years' accretion to hit 40 in this one!

devvvine, Thursday, 4 March 2021 13:25 (three years ago) link

I started putting a ballot together a while back and let it get away from me. Bummed that, since the nominations closed, I've already seen one non-nominated film that should absolutely be on my ballot but I also wonder if there's any point in including it given the lack of nomination. I might need to pow-wow with my youth pastor on this one.

Stefan Twerkelle (Old Lunch), Thursday, 4 March 2021 13:39 (three years ago) link

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 4 March 2021 16:55 (three years ago) link

I've sent in a ballot. If Eric could let me know he received it, that would be great!

Oor Neechy, Thursday, 4 March 2021 20:11 (three years ago) link

probably futile and ridiculous to do any campaigning for such a massive and personal endeavor but i would like to encourage folks to see/revisit Peter Weir's Fearless (1993). not at the top of my list or anything but it'll be on there somewhere. a movie close to my heart and one i never hear anyone talk about ever.

The nomination list is Forbidden (#403) for some reason. Is Eric's post from January the final noms list? Can't vote for anything not on it?

you can vote for whatever you'd like, nominations were intended as a jumping off point or to simply help you along

Will finally start entering in the last-minute ballots into the spreadsheet this week, which means I might be nice and leave room for a few more.

when I think about the work involved in compiling these ballots, with no nomination list, I would not be surprised if it took quite a while

Don’t know how I would have finished my ballot in time without that nomination list.

It would have been easier to throw a ballot together (in 40 minutes when Eric announced votes were closing) if we'd had a nomination list, for sure. Perhaps this should be considered for the 2021 version of the All-Time Film poll?

It’s certainly worth considering.
