would be interesting if harden went to the heat and had to get in shape. maybe it's the best of both worlds for him -- militant basketball culture in a city w/ renowned strip clubs

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:29 (three years ago) link

wld be funny if they traded him tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:31 (three years ago) link

philly or miami are the only places besides houston i can imagine harden yeah

ciderpress, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:44 (three years ago) link

sometimes i forget that PG snapped his leg in half.

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:45 (three years ago) link

i was watching a youtube about the collapse of that pacers team and had totally forgotten too, then they got to that part and i was like oh no are they going to show it so i turned it off, it wasnt that good

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:50 (three years ago) link

45 million a year for paul george is kinda wow but go to it

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:51 (three years ago) link

also had two shoulder surgeries in the last couple seasons..

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:52 (three years ago) link

i guess now he won't need to view any upcoming season as championship or bust

call all destroyer, Thursday, 10 December 2020 18:52 (three years ago) link

I would like to place a bet that the Clippers aren't going to get past the Lakers into the NBA Finals this year, next year, the year after, the year after that, or the year after that.

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:02 (three years ago) link

i think they cld do it

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:06 (three years ago) link

yah the bubble was really bad for that team

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:22 (three years ago) link

Clippers need to invest a whole lot of resources in figuring out exactly what stars aligned and what factors caused them to so align during that one great year PG had in OKC.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:25 (three years ago) link

and then uh figure out how to interlace those factors with whatever the hell Kawhi needs in order to be Kawhi without draining team chemistry.

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:26 (three years ago) link

yeah that’s an awful deal from the team side for george

k3vin k., Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:35 (three years ago) link

I think the clippers are in deep shit, players were desperate to leave in the offseason, their best player has really bad knees, lots of finger pointing. And they burned historic draft capital to do this.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:42 (three years ago) link

really good for the nuggets tho :) xp

k3vin k., Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:46 (three years ago) link

it’s a bad contract but it’s also pocket change for ballmer & they’ll prob always be operating well into the tax. his body breaking down would be my main concern... i also don’t understand why they had to give him a player option

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 December 2020 19:49 (three years ago) link

ballmer hasn't yet internalized the extent to which the nba's CBA is designed to neutralize his deep pockets as a competitive advantage.

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:00 (three years ago) link

that's not entirely true. the warriors have a huge competitive advantage having an owner who is willing/able to pay out a huge tax bill every year. basically all you have to do from a team perspective is juke the books to avoid the repeater tax but if you're willing to pay an extra $50m or $80m or $100m above the cap in a season there is nothing stopping you

Golden State tax bill is currently $66M

The addition of Kelly Oubre would see it increase to $134M

$14.4M of Oubre + $68M in taxes= $82.4M

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:04 (three years ago) link

feel like he will do something crazy like spend half a billion in luxury taxes just bc he can

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:05 (three years ago) link

which just hands his competitors a half billion dollars free and clear

Respectfully Yours, (Aimless), Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:24 (three years ago) link

i think you know youre both right the system does make it hard to just buy a good team, but ability to spend more does have its benefits too

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:26 (three years ago) link

like paying a billion dollars for kelly oubre is not gonna help that much, but its not nothing

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 20:27 (three years ago) link

lol

respect to him for having a great career despite not having nba level physical gifts and doing it on the biggest stage (the nba finals)

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 21:15 (three years ago) link

1st ballot lil bastard hall of fame

lag∞n, Thursday, 10 December 2020 21:15 (three years ago) link

is he definitely retiring? if he's feeling good he could still go out there and run pick and roll for some team for 10 minutes a night.

blessed

Jimmy Butler to ESPN's Rachel Nichols on James Harden, "There’s a lot of stuff always in the media. I think that he's a hell of player. I like the group we have. To tell you the truth, I just want the guy to be happy. That’s what life is about. That's what the game is about."

i am not a fan numbered player rankings. much prefer the tier system

Spottie, Thursday, 10 December 2020 22:57 (three years ago) link

it seems like jimmys in a good place

Jimmy Butler also tells ESPN's Rachel Nichols that his plan is to have Goran Dragic as the first spokesmodel for Big Face Coffee. Adds that it is an unpaid position.

jimmy was always meant for the heat when you think about it. the perfect marriage

lag∞n, Friday, 11 December 2020 01:16 (three years ago) link

jimmys locked in

The espn rankings have lillard above Jokic. I just can’t fathom that

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 11 December 2020 01:30 (three years ago) link

lillard's play last winter and during the seeding games was legit historic and he'll regress from that but idk man, lillard was pretty good last year!

Clay, Friday, 11 December 2020 01:40 (three years ago) link

i don't know how they're doing this list and what they're weighting but lillard's spot seems reasonable. a little surprised at where AD landed.
