I was obsessed with MGS and played it many times, but never even tried the sequels. I'm worried they'd be a letdown.
I'm guessing the movie is going to be completely stripped of everything that makes the game so weird and magical.

Play Phantom Pain. It came out too late to be polled here but it's just the best. And very nicely balanced, difficulty-wise (as I am also kind of shit wrt the old MGS games). See discussion upthread and, I'm sure, elsewhere on the board.

in a way i prefer ground zeroes. it’s almost like an arcade game. same layout +tweaked objectives = totally different levels. you can do speed runs even.
