these are government-ordained counter-protests to the actual protesters (or “worms” in government parlance)

"End the embargo" of course, and I endorse it. "End this oligarchical system which can't even use its excellent doctors to care for its citizens" I endorse too. But I'm keeping quiet about it because American intervention (ain't happening) and a military coup d'etat (ugh) would be calamitous too.

it would be nice if people didn’t always feel obliged to take one state line or another. no need to accept the cuban state’s self presentation at face value in order to oppose US imperialism. of course any kind of regime the US would prefer to install would be worse. of course they will want to take advantage of or exacerbate any instability & coopt any dissent regardless of cause or motivation. of course this crisis would not be prominent news in this part of the world if the political leadership was different. of course the framing in western media is going to be utter bullshit. all these things should go without saying but apparently they don’t. that said all cops includes the cuban ones
