i'm not sure it was all that much of an overpay!

the hawks and kings are both examples of what happens when you fuck up a tank by drafting players who arent good enough to create a winning culture
― micah, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 03:35 (three years ago) link
I'm definitely gonna watch that team tbh
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 25 November 2020 03:39 (three years ago) link
no lie okongwu might be the best player in this draft class tho i dont expect atl to develop him right
― discourse stu (m bison), Wednesday, 25 November 2020 03:45 (three years ago) link
they certainly aren't going to find out if hunter or reddish or even huerter is much of a player since they've brought in vets over the top of those guys
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 03:52 (three years ago) link
god i forgot about those guys. someone on basketball twitter got mad at me for saying reddish had a horrible season last year (he did)
― discourse stu (m bison), Wednesday, 25 November 2020 03:54 (three years ago) link
i mean yeah he did but generally speaking bad teams shouldn't just foreclose on lottery picks getting better in years 2-3
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 03:57 (three years ago) link
young guys will still get minutes
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 05:20 (three years ago) link
it’s weird — on the one hand they signed a bunch of good players. on the other it def complicates the developments of reddish — very important to them as the only possible way for them to not have the doncic pick be a historic landslide — and hunter, who they traded 2 firsts plus a high second round pick for. i guess you could say for hunter that he doesn’t need the ball anyway but that doesn’t really reflect highly on that pick. ultimately between money, draft picks, and trade assets they have a lot invested in this current roster and i’m not sure they’re gonna get the most out of either side — not good enough to get out of the first round in the present but not investing enough in the future. but maybe playing on a good team elevates the young guys once gallo and bogdan are on the back ends of their deals idk. just seems like they’re pushing their way into a pretty stacked east when they should mostly be waiting out this current era of the conference. schlenk prob feeling the heat tho and rightfully so (traded away one of the best players of a generation for no reason)

Man y’all really love shitting on the Hawks!
― Heez, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 12:43 (three years ago) link
I don’t have any problems with the signings. The Hawks have a ton of money and these don’t really kneecap their future. Should be a fun team to watch
― Heez, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 12:45 (three years ago) link
The kings should have matched Bogdan
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 15:35 (three years ago) link
they need flexibility for buddy hield to flex
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 15:39 (three years ago) link
Of course the most amazing thing about all of it is that a big reason they passed on Doncic was bogdan
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 15:52 (three years ago) link
that and balkanization
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 15:53 (three years ago) link
hoping we was saying the kings should’ve matched bogdan and offered hield to the hawks, but it seems like the relationship between bogdan and the kings wasn’t great. a common theme there....

I'm a little worried about this season. Cases are surging everywhere, there's no bubble anymore and with the Raptors moving there are now 3 teams in Florida. It was fun to point and laugh at the NFL for the snafu with the Broncos but it seems inevitable that the same issues will plague the NBA.

The treatment the Clippers gave Kawhi Leonard and Paul George rubbed some teammates the wrong way:◾️ Kawhi and PG-13 had power over the practice schedule.◾️ Kawhi lived in San Diego, which often made him late.◾️ Teammates believed they could choose when they played.— The Athletic (@TheAthletic) December 2, 2020
