truly believe there is no path to relevancy for the knicks under current ownership. dolan only knows one way of operating — star-driven quick fixes — but no player who can make that plan work wants to go there. KD and kyrie choosing brooklyn really should’ve automatically triggered a sale of the knicks. on top of it their core of young talent after years of top 10 picks is so unimpressive. frank ntilikina, kevin knox, rj barrett and obi toppin? yikes. their future is as bleak as any team in the NBA

J0rdan S., Monday, 23 November 2020 04:40 (three years ago) link

you're not thrilled with the signings of austin rivers, nerlans noel, elfrid payton, and alec burks?

call all destroyer, Monday, 23 November 2020 04:52 (three years ago) link

yeah the knicks will never be good, truly the bottom org in the nba, despite tough competition from the twolves and kings

ciderpress, Monday, 23 November 2020 04:56 (three years ago) link

xp thing is, in a vacuum, those are some quality role players on reasonable contracts! but its the knicks and thats the best they can get.

discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 14:16 (three years ago) link

to break the curse, the knicks must resign oakley and ewing and start them for 82 games

the serious avant-garde universalist right now (forksclovetofu), Monday, 23 November 2020 14:48 (three years ago) link

The Porzingis injury really set them back and they’ve never gotten any momentum since

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 15:08 (three years ago) link

dario 3/27 to stay. perfect contract really

Spottie, Monday, 23 November 2020 16:32 (three years ago) link

suns are legit. with GS losing klay i think they're the 4 seed at least.

discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 16:44 (three years ago) link

i think utah will move up to the 3-4 seed range and box the suns out. just a little prediction from my brain

ciderpress, Monday, 23 November 2020 16:52 (three years ago) link

ehhhhhhhhhh maybe

discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 16:56 (three years ago) link

the lakers are going to sleepwalk through the season to the 1 seed and steamroll the playoffs imo

k3vin k., Monday, 23 November 2020 17:58 (three years ago) link

this is also true

ciderpress, Monday, 23 November 2020 18:20 (three years ago) link

with lebron its starting to feel like when the spurs were getting older and every year we'd be like this is the year the spurs will fall off. and yet they went on for like 7 more seasons of greatness. having said that... is this the year lebron falls off? lol

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 18:42 (three years ago) link

it's set up for lebron to have a considerably low workload during the reg season

Am I crazy or was Markieff considered the better twin at one point

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 19:22 (three years ago) link

yeah kieff had the more polished offensive game when they were young. i think marcus was a little more of a generic PF type and then he learned to shoot the shit out of the ball.

call all destroyer, Monday, 23 November 2020 19:27 (three years ago) link

he definitely was around the time they were drafted and got a couple years after xp

k3vin k., Monday, 23 November 2020 19:29 (three years ago) link

purely from memory I feel like around the time marcus had that good season for the celtics and markieff was lost in the wizards morass was the inflection point, but I could be getting my timeline mixed up

k3vin k., Monday, 23 November 2020 19:32 (three years ago) link

I am really sad about the nuggs.

k3vin k., Monday, 23 November 2020 19:36 (three years ago) link

what happened to the nuggs are they bad now

ciderpress, Monday, 23 November 2020 19:42 (three years ago) link

yah kieff was clearly the better player, kev otm about the switch when kieff went to the wiz and marcus got good somehow

Spottie, Monday, 23 November 2020 19:44 (three years ago) link

are the nuggets done making moves?

Spottie, Monday, 23 November 2020 19:45 (three years ago) link

they are really banking on MPJ making a pretty big leap.

they’ll probably be the 3 seed as the rosters stand now but given their trajectory it would have been nice to at the very least not have taken a step back from a roster standpoint. you can expect improvement from jokic/murray/MPJ which won’t be nothing, but there are not a lot of guys on the team who have the combination of guarding guys and staying healthy

k3vin k., Monday, 23 November 2020 20:38 (three years ago) link

jamychal green was a good pickup, but theyre gonna miss grant, craig, plumdog millionaire

discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 20:39 (three years ago) link

Nuggets didn’t panic which is good. Love the rookies

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 20:40 (three years ago) link

who'd they draft again?

discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 20:40 (three years ago) link

I really like the hartenstein signing btw, I can definitely see him being as good as Plumlee

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 20:40 (three years ago) link

RJ Hampton and Zeke Nnaji

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 20:41 (three years ago) link

Hartenstein is kind of eerily like Plumlee in some ways, even down to preferring to do two handed reverse dunks

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 20:41 (three years ago) link

hampton could have a nice 2nd unit scoring role, nnaji could at least play organ covers of pop songs at the pepsi center

discourse stu (m bison), Monday, 23 November 2020 20:43 (three years ago) link

Hampton has all-star upside, idk about Nnaji but he seems like a great fit. It’d be funny if the newly yoked Cancar is the guy in the end.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 23 November 2020 20:47 (three years ago) link

expecting much of anything out of hampton this year esp after how they handled MPJ seems like a stretch to me

nuggets are as well positioned to make a move at the deadline as anyone. lakers, clippers, heat all made moves at the deadline last year for guys who played 30+ mpg in the offs. they’ll be able to add what they need... prices will prob be lower anyway if the jrue trade is any indication

J0rdan S., Monday, 23 November 2020 21:18 (three years ago) link

Cousins will sign a one-year, non-guaranteed deal, sources said. Houston expressed interest in signing the four-time All-Star before the NBA restart in July. Cousins serves as an upside signing, and has shown focus and drive in rehab through multiple long-term injuries. https://t.co/LUCaKrWwcj

what exaclty is houston doing

Spottie, Tuesday, 24 November 2020 00:11 (three years ago) link

Oh yeah no way is hampton playing this year, they have so many guards

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 November 2020 01:59 (three years ago) link

seems like internal improvement could be the biggest lever that any of the contending teams pull since i don't think anyone had an earth-shattering free agency period

Sounds like Bol Bol is going to get consistent minutes as a backup combo forward

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 November 2020 18:47 (three years ago) link

this might be the definitive bubble story. so many good anecdotes: https://www.gq.com/story/inside-the-nba-bubble

My whole time in the bubble, I never once saw Jayson Tatum of the Celtics without his teammates Kemba Walker and Javonte Green. It was natural for players to form cliques, but the trio were inseparable. Tatum says his favorite night in the bubble was when he was sipping a drink (he rotated between a Hennessy and pineapple, a Crown Royal Apple, and a Moscato) and Walker said he had a confession, something that he had to get off his chest. It was a revelation that brought the already close teammates even closer, according to Tatum: “Kemba was like, ‘Yo, before I met you, I thought you were just…like, the epitome of a light-skinned dude with good hair who went to Duke. But being around you, you're just a country dude from St. Louis!’ ”

The Sacramento Kings have declined to match the Atlanta Hawks’ four-year, $72 million offer sheet for restricted free agent guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, sources tell ESPN.

mookieproof, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 02:17 (three years ago) link

Kings front office labored over the decision, but kept coming back to new GM Monte McNair’s plan to maintain roster flexibility. Keeping Bogdanovic would’ve severely limited the organization’s ability to continue reshaping the team around its young core of Fox, Bagley and Hield. https://t.co/d4tuT8IRkD

interesting definition of roster flexibility

interesting definition of young (buddy hield, 27) and core (marvin bagley, marvin bagley)
