maybe not bad

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 16:25 (three years ago) link

they might get the 8 seed by default but they won 20 games last year. gallo prob adds like 5-6 wins in a good year, you assume some improvement by the young players, but they’re still gonna be terrible. still might be worse than the magic

J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 November 2020 16:32 (three years ago) link

i think i’m in the “i’ll believe trae young is a winning NBA player when i see it” camp

J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 November 2020 16:33 (three years ago) link

Good pick ups for the defending champs

(•̪●) (carne asada), Saturday, 21 November 2020 16:37 (three years ago) link

fair xp

discourse stu (m bison), Saturday, 21 November 2020 16:38 (three years ago) link

dunn for $5m seems like a real bargain compared to most of these other deals

I don’t know if it’s a bit or a requirement but a really funny thing is how Shams and Woj put all these odd facts from agents in their free agent signing tweets. Like Danilo Gallinari being the highest paid European player in his 30s who has not made an allstar team.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 17:09 (three years ago) link

Also seeing some reports of Bol Bol working hard in the gym and don’t know if it’s a bit

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 17:13 (three years ago) link

the bogdanovic and gallinari signings should improve the hawks defense to maybe league second worst

micah, Saturday, 21 November 2020 17:15 (three years ago) link

yes the davis bertans tweet noted it was one of the richest contracts ever negotiated by a european based agent. thanks!

J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 November 2020 17:16 (three years ago) link

most of it would be be backscratching the agents in return for the scoop

micah, Saturday, 21 November 2020 17:20 (three years ago) link

yeah u dont get sources for nothing lol

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 17:30 (three years ago) link

Free agent Gordon Hayward is signing a 4-year, $120M deal with Charlotte, per source.

lol wow insane plot twists this offseason

ciderpress, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:32 (three years ago) link

lololol MJ from downtown

discourse stu (m bison), Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:34 (three years ago) link

How did the Charlotte Hornets crush the off-season

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:36 (three years ago) link

rip gordo

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:36 (three years ago) link

(Very carefully)

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:37 (three years ago) link

lol

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:37 (three years ago) link

some big contracts being handed out

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:37 (three years ago) link

Honestly think the Hornets could be a fun team here... first time I’ve ever felt like there’s an actual plan

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:39 (three years ago) link

bet this will end up a sign n trade

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:39 (three years ago) link

Lamelo + a zillion guys who play defense, including Hayward. It makes sense

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:40 (three years ago) link

For Charlotte to add Gordon Hayward they have to:

-Work a S&T with Boston

-Trade away $7.5M in salary elsewhere

-Waive and stretch Nic Batum at about $9M a year for the next three years

— Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) November 21, 2020

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:42 (three years ago) link

Wait they have to do all three of those things?

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:44 (three years ago) link

seems like thats what its saying

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:45 (three years ago) link

all the sites only have them at $80m tho and the cap is 100 so it must be sign and trade OR the other two options combined

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:47 (three years ago) link

conceptually that makes sense too if you do a sign n trade then youre cool by its nature

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:47 (three years ago) link

So the hornets signed Hayward for $120 million? Huh I didn’t realize NBA teams were allowed to hand out 23-year contracts.

Evans on Hammond (evol j), Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:50 (three years ago) link

welp this sucks for the celtics shdve taken turner

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:50 (three years ago) link

tho i guess they cld get something back in a sign n trade and then via not having hayward on the books have access to the full MLE but still

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:50 (three years ago) link

2nd year in a row they played hardball and someone swooped in with a silly contract

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:55 (three years ago) link

My guys love overpaying Celtics (see: Rozier, Terry)

Evans on Hammond (evol j), Saturday, 21 November 2020 18:55 (three years ago) link

The last four major contracts Mitch Kupchak has signed in free agency:
* Gordon Hayward: four-years, $120M
* Terry Rozier: three-years, $56.7M
* Timofey Mozgov: four-years, $64M
* Luol Deng: four-years, $72M

mitch "the candyman" kupchak

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:12 (three years ago) link

i remember gordon hayward’s RFA when he was being courted by cleveland and charlotte but ended up getting stuck in utah... seems like he looked at free agency this year and was like, my chance to play for one of the sorriest franchises in the NBA has finally arrived

J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:16 (three years ago) link

yeah he signed an offer with charlotte that time too

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:17 (three years ago) link

tbf at least this time they were offering unreasonably more money than anyone should

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:19 (three years ago) link

how bad does it have to get before they’re required to change their name back to the bobcats?

la table sur la table (voodoo chili), Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:30 (three years ago) link

lmao that contract is insane

call all destroyer, Saturday, 21 November 2020 19:32 (three years ago) link

waiting for ainge to leak all the bigly deals he almost closed

micah, Saturday, 21 November 2020 20:53 (three years ago) link

also looking forward to signing hayward to the vet min in 2025 when he comes home to the house he bought in fishers where his kids go to school where both his extended families live in the state he grew up in

micah, Saturday, 21 November 2020 20:58 (three years ago) link

is atlanta...good now?

I think the biggest improvement for the Hawks will be having Capela out there. Sounds like they may be trying to move Collins at some point which I hate but if you’ve got Trae out there you better have a 4 who can protect the rim, especially if you’re paying the max for him

Heez, Saturday, 21 November 2020 21:02 (three years ago) link

Why are you guys acting like Hayward is washed

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 21:02 (three years ago) link

i don’t think he’s washed but giving a good but not great player with a concerning injury history $30m a year is bad business

J0rdan S., Saturday, 21 November 2020 21:44 (three years ago) link

even if hayward is good next year and like decent the year after that, what exactly does this accomplish for the hornets? lamelo is going to suck for a while and they have no other talent. it’s just another team shortcutting the rebuild.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 21 November 2020 22:00 (three years ago) link

yeah if hayward can find some health hes an allstar level player but even in that best case scenario im not sure it really makes sense for the hornets

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 November 2020 22:17 (three years ago) link

would have been fine as 2/60

micah, Saturday, 21 November 2020 22:24 (three years ago) link

In retrospect the bucks should have kept John Hammond

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 21 November 2020 23:46 (three years ago) link
