lag∞n, Friday, 20 November 2020 01:22 (three years ago) link

ciderpress, Friday, 20 November 2020 01:48 (three years ago) link

abdel nader is still kicking around!

i also continue to like waters, maybe he's just too small but he should be playing somewhere professionally.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for: Jayson Tatum has agreed to a five-year, $195M designated rookie max extension worth with the Celtics, according to a source.

Aaron Nesmith on how he and Pritchard could potentially fill in after Gordon Hayward’s departure: “We don’t really know. We’ve never played in the NBA before.”

waggling eyebrows

Sources: Boston and Charlotte have worked on a sign-and-trade for Gordon Hayward that would land Celtics a trade exception, but Hornets have first been trying to find a third team for Nic Batum's $27M contract to see if there's a way to avoid waiving-and-stretching his money.

haay

lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 November 2020 16:53 (three years ago) link

our long regional nightmare is over

Boston has signed and traded Gordon Hayward and two future second-round picks to Charlotte for a conditional future second-round pick. Celtics also receive a trade exception.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) November 29, 2020

lag∞n, Sunday, 29 November 2020 20:58 (three years ago) link

when that trade exception comes off the bench to drop 12 and 7 per game, ayyyyyy

discourse stu (m bison), Sunday, 29 November 2020 21:24 (three years ago) link

lol

lag∞n, Sunday, 29 November 2020 22:53 (three years ago) link

its not just any exception

Celtics breaking their own news again, which has been an interesting twist to this offseason. Hayward TPE will be for $30 million it appears, the largest TPE ever created. https://t.co/uXiHxlcPda

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:18 (three years ago) link

type of guy the celtics need "a big wing"

aaron gordon
harrison barnes
otto porter

i would hate each of them immediately but hey tell you what whatre you gonna do

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:29 (three years ago) link

they just removed my two most hated celtics so its ok

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:29 (three years ago) link

although im pretty sure i do not like tristan thompson, i am willing to approach with an open mind, he was an occasional beast with lebron getting every rebound dominating physically and so forth and is still not yet 30

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:33 (three years ago) link

celtics adding a guy like that after they got wrecked physically all playoffs is good imo

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:37 (three years ago) link

can we clone Kendrick Perkins

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Monday, 30 November 2020 16:42 (three years ago) link

i think with thompson the hope has to be that getting out of cleveland results in some natural bounceback. he's not exactly what they need but he's been a great playoff player in the past so maybe they can catch some lightning in a bottle at the right time.

call all destroyer, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:43 (three years ago) link

at the very least he shd be available when theis is getting destroyed by a very big man, best case he plays well enough to take the starting spot

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:45 (three years ago) link

otto porter is good why would you hate him immediately

those other two i get

ciderpress, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:49 (three years ago) link

he just seems like a passive disappointing player, hitting 3s is good tho

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:54 (three years ago) link

hes like joe ingles, quietly does all the good role player wing stuff

ciderpress, Monday, 30 November 2020 16:57 (three years ago) link

hes pretty much a non entity on offense besides the shooting tho

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:07 (three years ago) link

fwiw it would somewhat complicated for them to trade for him too cause although he would exactly fit into the trade exemption well ill just c&p this

When the Celtics use the full mid-level exception on Monday to formally sign Tristan Thompson to a two-year, $19 million deal, they will invoke the hard cap. That means they cannot complete transactions that would put them above the tax apron at $139 million. Not including Javonte Green’s non-guaranteed $1.5 million, the Celtics are about $22 million under the hard cap. So to use the full $28.5 million trade exception, they would need to include an additional chunk of salary to ensure they stay below that hard cap.

and the celtics dont have any guys besides theis making $5m a year so youd have to do something like

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:07 (three years ago) link

this is a great role for him, being interviewed by the local sideline reporter coming out of halftime

10-year NBA veteran Evan Turner is finalizing a deal to join the Boston Celtics as an assistant coach, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. Turner is expected to focus on player development.

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:11 (three years ago) link

i had forgotten about evan turner being a weirdo who sounds like meatwad

ciderpress, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:18 (three years ago) link

lol hes a genuinely great interview

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:19 (three years ago) link

haha yes, perfect role for ET. I think I wrote in one of these ILH threads within the past few weeks that his self-deprecating sense of humor probably bought him an extra year or two in the league

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:23 (three years ago) link

I like Otto Porter, though he's already overpaid and would be even more so to back up J&J

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:24 (three years ago) link

yeah hes on the last year of his deal, celtics wld get his bird rights but would they want to pay the price to resign him, who knows

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:36 (three years ago) link

i do think they cld get him a lot of minutes with various small and big lineups so he cld be more than just a backup

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:37 (three years ago) link

which is why getting a big wing makes so much sense for them

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:40 (three years ago) link

its also hard to trade for him without putting romeo in and do the celtics want to trade a second year lottery pick for one year of an overpaid guy, prob not, and would the bulls even want it either idk, celtics prob more likely to trade for someone who makes less where they can just ship a pick out and call it a day

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 17:46 (three years ago) link

celtics should trade romeo for anyone useful imo

ciderpress, Monday, 30 November 2020 18:18 (three years ago) link

i would tend to agree with that but i am also not the celtics

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 18:20 (three years ago) link

or the teams they might trade with

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 18:24 (three years ago) link

im just a guy

lag∞n, Monday, 30 November 2020 18:24 (three years ago) link

is porter even healthy? i'd feel better if he had played a normal number of games last year.

call all destroyer, Monday, 30 November 2020 18:27 (three years ago) link

Porter looked a lot healthier in March than he did in oct/nov. I think he was trying to play through some stuff.
