the team that was last seen winning every game in the bubble with a young roster might want to idk continue to develop that team instead of trading for a 35 y/o with one of the biggest salaries in the league

oubre is gonna demand more money than he's worth. rubio cant shoot.

thye did all that bubble stuff w out oubre. cam j and mikal look like the future for them.

they didn't trade any of those young guys so i think they can keep developing. the suns are "young" but they're also about to get really expensive so yeah they'd probably like to start making the playoffs.

if someone wants to way over pay oubre fine, but is that the most likely outcome? probably not, they really should have tried to retain him

i think okc did well getting a pick out of it.

And I totally dismiss this idea that Rubio and Oubre are nothing. Rubio helps teams win games and Oubre is a talented dude.

whatre the chances that paul is worse than rubio alone next year like 1/4

they arent nothing but they arent a reason to hold back a trade either.

they gave up practically nothing. oubre is a hair above average at best but they have wing depth to spare. rubio is an average player whose exact role on the team -- veteran PG -- is being replaced by a far superior player. the pick they traded would likely have been mid to late lottery even if they had continued the course. the franchise hasn't made the playoffs in 10 years, playing a full season of competitive basketball and potentially making the playoffs will prob feel really good. you can only lose for so long!

if they get the cp of the 1st half of last season then this will be a disaster but if they get 2nd half cp then it will be fine.

the only excuse i can think for trading oubre, a classic hard working can fit in anywhere type, is maybe he wouldnt stop asking everyone if they saw his fit picks on the gram

i like oubre as much as the next guy but his contract is up after this year, if the suns extended him at his current $15m or more when they have other cheaper possibly better wings we'd all be killing them for that.

they have bridges and cam johnson who are arguably better than oubre... really they basically had three of the same player. sparing one (the older and more expensive one) to get chris paul is a totally acceptable move to me. oubre is probably, like, a 1 or 2 win above replacement player at best. he's totally expendable.

first round picks arent nothing, starting quality players arent nothing, taking on $10m more in salary also not nothing

It just seems like an amazing coup for the thunder that they took chris Paul, who was considered such a negative asset that they got a bushel of picks for trading an inferior player, and then the next year got assets for him.
