where could james harden be traded 1. to some other team he agrees to 2. to a (prob desperate team) that thinks they can convince him to stay 3. to a team that views him as "an asset"?

Yeah I’m excited. Yeah I’m stoked.
Aleksej Pokusevski, the 18-year-old out of Serbia, is gaining a lot of momentum with the Nuggets and could be Denver’s target at No. 22, per a league source. The Nuggets are enamored with his skill-set and upside, and aren’t shy about taking prospects that come with some risk.— Harrison Wind (@HarrisonWind) November 16, 2020

lol

Apparently the nuggets want to trade up too. I doubt this guy lasts to 22

TRADE SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN
OKC has traded Chris Paul to Phoenix for Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre, Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque and draft compensation, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. https://t.co/QA1hoZlxzM— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) November 16, 2020

God I want the thunder to make the playoffs so much
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:21 (three years ago) link
that doesn't seem very possible or likely

i do not love this trade for the suns, theyre what in win now mode with a 35 y/o chris paul
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:27 (three years ago) link
i like this trade for basketball reasons
― ciderpress, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:28 (three years ago) link
who cares if the suns suck again in 2 years
― ciderpress, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:29 (three years ago) link
the suns prob

By adding another first rounder in dealing Chris Paul, that brings the total return on trading Russell Westbrook to three future firsts and two pick swaps.— Royce Young (@royceyoung) November 16, 2020
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:35 (three years ago) link
they're gonna have booker and ayton through like '24 anyway, that doesn't really feel like 'win-now'. and if those guys aren't good enough then they're not winning later anyway
― ciderpress, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:36 (three years ago) link
what
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:37 (three years ago) link
yah this isnt a win it all now mode. this is a get in the playoffs and hopefully instill some good habits on ayton mode.

you all have quite lost your minds, good day
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:39 (three years ago) link
It’s bizarre how you guys think this is good for the Suns tbh

the team that was last seen winning every game in the bubble with a young roster might want to idk continue to develop that team instead of trading for a 35 y/o with one of the biggest salaries in the league
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:46 (three years ago) link
oubre is gonna demand more money than he's worth. rubio cant shoot.
― Spottie, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:47 (three years ago) link
thye did all that bubble stuff w out oubre. cam j and mikal look like the future for them.
they didn't trade any of those young guys so i think they can keep developing. the suns are "young" but they're also about to get really expensive so yeah they'd probably like to start making the playoffs.

oubre is gonna demand more money than he's worth.
― Spottie, Monday, November 16, 2020 1:47 PM (fifty-one seconds ago) bookmarkflaglink
if someone wants to way over pay oubre fine, but is that the most likely outcome? probably not, they really should have tried to retain him
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:49 (three years ago) link
I think there’s some cool elements to this for the Suns but it’s a pretty balanced trade overall and I think I like it better for OKC

Four-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan is opting into his $27.7M contract with the Spurs for the 2020-21 season, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) November 16, 2020
props to the spurs keeping one of their best players
― k3vin k., Monday, 16 November 2020 18:51 (three years ago) link
i think okc did well getting a pick out of it.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:52 (three years ago) link
And I totally dismiss this idea that Rubio and Oubre are nothing. Rubio helps teams win games and Oubre is a talented dude.
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:52 (three years ago) link
whatre the chances that paul is worse than rubio alone next year like 1/4
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:54 (three years ago) link
they arent nothing but they arent a reason to hold back a trade either.
― Spottie, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:55 (three years ago) link
they gave up practically nothing. oubre is a hair above average at best but they have wing depth to spare. rubio is an average player whose exact role on the team -- veteran PG -- is being replaced by a far superior player. the pick they traded would likely have been mid to late lottery even if they had continued the course. the franchise hasn't made the playoffs in 10 years, playing a full season of competitive basketball and potentially making the playoffs will prob feel really good. you can only lose for so long!
― J0rdan S., Monday, 16 November 2020 18:56 (three years ago) link
if they get the cp of the 1st half of last season then this will be a disaster but if they get 2nd half cp then it will be fine.
― Spottie, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:57 (three years ago) link
the only excuse i can think for trading oubre, a classic hard working can fit in anywhere type, is maybe he wouldnt stop asking everyone if they saw his fit picks on the gram
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 18:57 (three years ago) link
i like oubre as much as the next guy but his contract is up after this year, if the suns extended him at his current $15m or more when they have other cheaper possibly better wings we'd all be killing them for that.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 16 November 2020 19:00 (three years ago) link
they have bridges and cam johnson who are arguably better than oubre... really they basically had three of the same player. sparing one (the older and more expensive one) to get chris paul is a totally acceptable move to me. oubre is probably, like, a 1 or 2 win above replacement player at best. he's totally expendable.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 16 November 2020 19:00 (three years ago) link
first round picks arent nothing, starting quality players arent nothing, taking on $10m more in salary also not nothing
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 November 2020 19:02 (three years ago) link
It just seems like an amazing coup for the thunder that they took chris Paul, who was considered such a negative asset that they got a bushel of picks for trading an inferior player, and then the next year got assets for him.
― Matt Armstrong, Monday, 16 November 2020 19:02 (three years ago) link
cp played himself into tradability
― Spottie, Monday, 16 November 2020 19:03 (three years ago) link
this was good for both franchises
