if they can find a way to get off that westbrook contract they can do some other stuff but idk about that. apparently they are paying eric gordon through 2024 as well so they are really screwed actually:
https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/HOU.html

harden/westbrook/gordon eating up 90% of your cap space through 2023...

Spottie, Wednesday, 11 November 2020 22:35 (three years ago) link

plus the old GM basically burnt the roster down on his way out.

i know that it doesn't really matter but i wouldn't use this characterization. like, james didn't want to play with cp3 so they traded for his friend. james didn't want to run pick and roll anymore so they traded the starting center. like every roster move was done to appease james or play to his strengths. unless he plans on being a different basketball player once he's on another team i don't know where the greener grass is.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 11 November 2020 23:02 (three years ago) link

i guess it's in philly where he can just repeat the process. i feel like the rockets would almost not do a trade there out of spite.

i'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say that everyone hates being around cp3 and the westbrook & capela moves were as much driven by daryl's understanding that he could run the ultimate small ball experiment and leave some other fool to clean up the mess

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 11 November 2020 23:40 (three years ago) link

agree tho that i don't see greener grass for him when you consider age + contract + what the rockets would be asking for in return. he had some really good shots w/ those cp3 teams but it just didn't happen

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 11 November 2020 23:46 (three years ago) link

yikes

Rockets’ Russell Westbrook wants out of Houston, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

Spottie, Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:30 (three years ago) link

Spottie, Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:31 (three years ago) link

mr dolan we need you know more than ever

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:32 (three years ago) link

the aldridge to warriors rumors are really bumming me out

Spottie, Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:36 (three years ago) link

hes a bad fit for the woarriors and also bad

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:42 (three years ago) link

hes a good fit and hes still good

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:50 (three years ago) link

hmm

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:51 (three years ago) link

Houston's James Harden remains committed to the Rockets and is "locked in" for the season, sources tell @KellyIkoNBA and me.

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:54 (three years ago) link

he's a ~40% 3 pt shooter who can defend anthony davis. they need size against the lakers or they may never sniff the finals in the splash era.

xp

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:56 (three years ago) link

lma is still good at basketball things. he's not a good 'first option' guy now. GS doesn't need him to be.

the unappreciated charisma of cows (Aimless), Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:56 (three years ago) link

right. and his contract expires this year. if they can unload wiggins, theyll save tens of millions of dollars in luxury tax next year.

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 00:58 (three years ago) link

Harden went off the grid on a spirit quest to perfect the one-legged 3.

Fetchboy, Thursday, 12 November 2020 01:12 (three years ago) link

haven't seen the rumor, what is the trade construction that gets lamarcus to the warriors?

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2020 01:27 (three years ago) link

i like lamarcus still ... he started shooting threes and pretty well last year. i think he still has valuable minutes left as a role player

J0rdan S., Thursday, 12 November 2020 01:36 (three years ago) link

a role player you say! (checks his contract)

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 November 2020 02:00 (three years ago) link

what does LMA bring to the warriors that they lack?

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 November 2020 02:00 (three years ago) link

size and stretch 5 skills, pick n pop partner

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 02:09 (three years ago) link

LA's making $24M with a trade kicker (i think 15%) if he's dealt, so itll be ~$27.5M for 1 year

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 02:09 (three years ago) link

i mean if the warriors could get him for close to nothing and didn't care about the luxury tax i'd say sure go for it.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2020 02:15 (three years ago) link

i'm w m bison on this one. the problem is what you do w/ him on defense assuming he's not really capable of anchoring an nba defense anymore. but he's a 7 foot multi time all star who shot 39% from three and is on a 1 year deal, if i was a contender i think i would be interested

J0rdan S., Thursday, 12 November 2020 02:42 (three years ago) link

miami is an interesting landing spot too. olynyk+iggy+#20 works.

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 02:47 (three years ago) link

i don't think he and bam really fit

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2020 02:48 (three years ago) link

its questionable, but think of aldridge as an upgrade over olynyk as a stretch 5. iguodala might be unplayable next year, so you're really giving up the #20 pick to get more talent for a run this season

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 03:02 (three years ago) link

yeah i am very sorry but that doesn't get me excited

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2020 03:26 (three years ago) link

i am not here to excite u, i am the mod, i moderate

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 03:31 (three years ago) link

well you are proposing very "moderate" trades

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2020 03:38 (three years ago) link

Warriors don’t need to be slowing the pace they need wings Wiggins is a way better fit. Warriors best lineup is dray at the 5 so do things that make that lineup the best it can be then fill in the rest

Spottie, Thursday, 12 November 2020 03:43 (three years ago) link

i get that but also they will lose to the lakers and spend over half a billion dollars the next 3 seasons doing that

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 03:58 (three years ago) link

yeah that's going to happen no matter what the warriors do

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:01 (three years ago) link

Dray guards brow prob as good as anyone

Spottie, Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:07 (three years ago) link

xp if thats the case they need to dump wiggins quickly or they will be paying something like $75M in luxury tax in 21-22

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:36 (three years ago) link

it's not what you want

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:43 (three years ago) link

there cld be a trade for wiggins and #2 that puts them over the top, thats what id be looking for

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:43 (three years ago) link

what if it's...russ lol

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:47 (three years ago) link

i dont think thats it... although i would def watch

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:54 (three years ago) link

doesnt even have to be for a star cld bring back multiple guys to fill out the team

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:55 (three years ago) link

its def not russ who is destined to fill his stat sheet on some terrible team next year

discourse stu (m bison), Thursday, 12 November 2020 04:56 (three years ago) link

wiggins and #2 for durant lol

Clay, Thursday, 12 November 2020 05:38 (three years ago) link

i'm still a firm believer in the westbrook--blake--john wall blockbuster depression go-round trade
