I think I may at times have conflated Soul Coughing and Collapsed Lung. Amused at the logic there.

Diry Projectors / Fiery Furnaces / Magic Numbers - no idea what these are or what distinguishes them and herein revel in the ignorance. New Pornographers at least sound like they are multiple humans.

It's not that I'm against non human things, just that I wouldn't confuse New Prnographers with the others, and also I happen to be more aware of what they do.

I gotcha - was just kidding around (I can see what you mean about the first two you named; I've never heard of Magic Numbers)

I was trying to think of the name of that highly influential African American civil rights proto-hip hop group and all I could come up with in my head was.... Lost Prophets :-( :-(

I don't know how this started considering the names are only similar in the vaguest ways (so this may be cheating a little) but or some reason since I learned of the two groups I've consisently confused The Flaming Lips and The Legendary Pink Dots.
Got much better at distinguishing the two more recently but for a good long time whenever one was brought up I thought the other was being reffered to.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but for years I sorta ignored - very foolishly and to my detriment, it turns out - Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, because I was confusing them with emo band Sleeptime Trio (who were pretty good as I recall, just not really my thing these days)
