Reprise Records, my record company for about 50 years, underestimated the demand for Archives VOLUME II. We were all surprised. It is a beautiful package that I am proud to have made for you. I do feel badly that we did not deliver it to many who were waiting so long for it.

We don’t feel that offering more of a product sold as a limited edition is a good thing to do. Thank you to all who purchased this set.

In 2021 we will be offering more Archives VOLUME II products as Reprise had originally planned, available in all outlets. These, while not the boxed set, will offer all of the of the music and discs with a smaller book. The original large book will be available for separate sale.

definitely disappointing especially because he finally relented on his ridiculous vinyl prices in the last few years, making them affordable finally

yeah odeon budokan should definitely be put out as a vinyl set. he could make a killing with the unreleased zuma stuff on a single LP too.

Neil Young's release schedule is like the To Watch lists on my streaming services. There are a bunch of things queued up, already too many, but I still keep adding things, and as I add things some of the old things get removed, and then I end up impulsively wanting to watch something that's not on my watch list at all but can't find it so inevitably just end up having to download it somewhere else.

I wish he started doing this years, hell DECADES ago instead of cramming so much into so little time, but at least he's doing it. I'm sure mortality has been a good motivator. In the wake of the catalog sales, several of Young's peers have referenced the same thing: it's better to take care of everything while you're still around, and not have the same situation as Prince or Tom Petty where you die, your extended family is left with the responsibility, and it's a complete shit show because everyone hates each other.

The shows were famously drunken, sloppy affairs where most of the set came from Tonight’s The Night, which wouldn’t be released for well over a year. “People booed every night,” Lofgren tells Rolling Stone. “They were incensed. They’d yell ‘Play ‘Old Man!’ Where are the hits? We don’t want this!'”

Making matters worse, the Eagles opened up every night with a tight set of harmonies and crowd-pleasing hits like “Take It Easy” and “Desperado.” Melody Maker spoke for many fans with the headline “Go Home Neil Young!” “I paid £2.50 to see Neil Young and came away with a love/hate relationship,” wrote one fan, “Hating Neil Young, but loving the Eagles…All I can say is that the rumors must be true. I have a friend that saw him on the "Greendale" tour, and he told me there was an aggrieved woman sitting behind them that just kept yelling "normal concert, normal concert!"

I mean, it takes all kinds, really. I'm sure I've mentioned an older friend of mine who, when I told him I was listening to the new Neil Young, "Le Noise" (this is right when it was released), said, "oh man, I love Neil Young, how is it?!" I told him it was great, lots of electric guitar and feedback and stuff, and he wrinkled his nose and said, "oh, I don't like any of his loud stuff."

That tonight's the night UK tour really was kind of a deep dgaf move on Neil's part — he'd barely played there before (just a handful of times solo and with CSNY). I can imagine that anyone who had seen him previously would've been kind of shocked by his pure sleazoid vibe in late 73.
