I had never seen Basinski until last week, watching that Other Music documentary, and it was jarring! I had always imagined some unassuming, word-shy monkish guy....

that reminds me, i pre-ordered basinski's Lamentations earlier this year and i think it's finally getting released soon!

that wire cover would have surprised me too, but i happened to see him with grouper a few years ago at moma ps1, and was delighted with his rod roddy-esque reflective look

It always seems like 90% of this thread is devoted to pure hedonism or unbridled individualism. iow, you all didn't watch as millions of free-love hippies turned into yuppies or flaming libertarian assholes because of that "if it feels good, do it" arrested thinking.
