Call Me by a wide margin.

Hate My Way or Delicate Cutters.

Oh damn, my mouse just slipped and I voted for Hate My Way when I think I love Delicate Cutters more.

Hi. Rabbit's Dying for me. Love it when it rocks out, and goes all hoedown(ish).

Mr.Prologue, Friday, 3 July 2009 21:17 (fourteen years ago) link

I'd love to vote 'Call Me' but it's two different songs; the first one is awesome, but the second ruins everything.

MacDara, Friday, 3 July 2009 23:45 (fourteen years ago) link

I've been listening to this album for like 20 years and apparently never learned the name of my favorite song (had to google the lyrics).

welcome home, Welcome Home, WELCOME HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!

I like both parts, but if I were gonna pick, I prefer the second movement of Call Me.

side 1 is unimpeachable but c'mon, "vicky's box"

鬼の手 (Edward III), Saturday, 4 July 2009 14:40 (fourteen years ago) link

the 2nd part of Call Me is their finest moment for me.

Can I get that on a brass plaque for my wall? :o)

i can't lisen to Gang of Four,Petty Smith or Gang of Four anymore.
but i love listening to this record.(which,in a way, combines the above three as an influence, with touches of Gun Club maybe)
go figure.

"Petty Smith" looooooooool

which was a bit synth-cheese-tastic for my tastes (Bimble), Saturday, 4 July 2009 19:14 (fourteen years ago) link

Vicky's Box for sure. Opening lines:

He won't ride in cars anymore
it reminds him of blow jobs
that he's a queer
and his hair stuck to the roof over the wheel

I used to love this record, but not so much anymore.

kornrulez6969, Sunday, 5 July 2009 07:20 (fourteen years ago) link

Hey guys, Bimble really wants to post in this thread but can't, so I'm posting instead. Also, I've never heard of Throwing Muses before, but because of Bimble's encouragement, I'm gonna check them out.

Stand Up is the only track in this record that should have been left out.
is there anyone here that voted for it?
speak now or forever hold your piece!

theres always this element in some of TM best songs, where they change gears and style in the middle of the song.
on one hand - it makes the songs more interesting, and the other hand - sometimes i wish the hooks/verses would continue again (and again...)
(call me,hook,finished...etc...)

maybe thats the reason i chose Fear - it's compressed and accurate to perfection.nothing to add or remove from it.

band members were only 20 years old when they recorded this record.
amazing!

Soul Soldier deserved better, people.

can't believe green only got one vote. always thought that was the casual fan's fave. or maybe it was years ago anyway. some of tanya's showstoppers definitely got more play on college radio and i wonder if this used to bum her sis out.

scott seward, Saturday, 11 July 2009 23:10 (fourteen years ago) link

i always loved green cuz it reminded me of my hero jo kennedy on the starstruck soundtrack. (starstruck soundtrack being one of my top 20 albums of the 80's. along with muses debut.)

scott seward, Saturday, 11 July 2009 23:11 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, wtf re: green. :(

I love that song. I have a thing for girlish speak-singing like that. :)
