The recent Pitchfork piece on Keyboard Fantasies is really nice too: https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/beverly-glenn-copeland-keyboard-fantasies/

Can’t wait to see the doc.

Is the new thing all live or a weird compilation thing?

i think it's a comp. i love it to bits

boxedjoy and i were talking about how there seems to be a bit of a throughline or appetite for music like this this year. See also: Eddie Chacon and Reuben Vaun Smith who aren't exactly the same but seem to share sonic similarities

there are 2 new things: a live album (Live at Le Guess Who?) and a comp (Transmissions)

Ok thanks! I read a review where this wasn't clear and having seen him live twice, the first time with the band he played 'Le guess who?' with and second time with a different band and the band made a real difference. First time at cafe Oto incredible, intimate and expansive and incredibly locked in playing by a band that had clearly practiced A LOT, sparse intricate and subtle. Second time was a different story, bad vibe, felt schmaltzy and hollow, different band (wholly competent but far from transcendent). In fairness, first concert was a real one shot thing and after the second one felt like I got my comeuppance for being so greedy.

Sunset Village is such a beautiful song. It's like someone giving you a big hug after something incredibly shocking has happened
