Browny mate, I already admired you for your music, attitude, outlook and haircut... and now your approach to all this nonsense with the "pandemic". Right on King Monkey!! 👌✊

It is becoming increasingly obvious why Danny Rampling is often referred to as Danny Dumpling.

I have a feeling DJ Qbert may be on the Covidiot spectrum.

yeah, i saw some recent crap re q-bert that made me question his groove.
however, seems like he has done some back peddling :

It is becoming increasingly obvious why Danny Rampling is often referred to as Danny Dumpling.

His Instagram Stories are wild.

He's also shared a video on there that claims the forehead temperature checks are actually a ploy to condition people to having guns pointed at their heads and that the infrared from the thermometers are irradiating people's pineal glands.

I interviewed R1ch4rd F41rbr4ss a few years ago and it was supposed to be for an oral history of I'm Too Sexy on its anniversary (!) and instead of being keen to chat about his experiences travelling the world at the peak of his fame he was so very keen to chat about Brexit and Scottish independence. Big supporter of both from a leftist perspective, local rights etc. Really bizarre experience.

i dunno, she made a bad mask choice unless i'm missing something else. does that make her a covidiot? i guess it does here.

yeah, not a COVID truther or anything, just someone for whom aesthetics are more important than safety. which should surprise mo one

I know I'm Cap'n Save-a-Lana and the mask thing was clearly very stupid, but there's no reason I'm aware of to think she's an actual COVID truther or whatever, just a too-committed aesthete.

Still makes her an idiot though, which fits the thread title even if she isn't on the level of Van.

I mean, it shows a stunning disregard for her fans to show up at a promo event with a mask like that, which is more infuriating to me than some dipshit tweeting stupid stuff.

A mesh mask puts her a half step before people who scream at service employees for asking them to wear a mask. All idiots.

Somehow this phenomenon makes me more angry/paranoid than seeing someone not wearing a mask at all.

Perhaps they don't understand how to properly wear the mask, or they find it uncomfortable/claustrophobic. As someone who's dealt with something called 'sighing syndrome' for decades now (look it up)...I can understand that anxiety.

I'm not gonna let myself get triggered every time I see someone not wearing a mask. I can wear my mask as responsibly as possible (with occasional slipups) and hope others follow. That's all I can do.

DT, Thursday, 8 October 2020 05:03 (three years ago) link

oh well that's alright then

Covidiots from UHF (sic), Thursday, 8 October 2020 06:57 (three years ago) link

Don't understand how to wear a mask...after six months and google existing. Sure, i buy that.

I also buy that the average person I see wearing it incorrectly all coincidentally have medical conditions that make it harmful to wear. I'm sure the people riding coasters at Universal with masks on their chin are all medically compromised.

Like if you're going to wear it wrong, why bother with the charade at all? Droplets from nose is the easiest way to spread it. You aren't helping anybody if you don't cover it. It's like wearing a condom and poking holes in it cuz it's "more comfortable".

I hyperventilate sometimes during panic attacks and I had to wear mine 24/7 indoors while i stayed at the folks and my dad was recovering from surgery, even though I only visited the grocery store at the time. I managed.

I don't publicly shame or accost individuals who wear it wrong as maybe I don't have the full picture, plus rn I'll probably get stabbed. But yea, collectively? Fuck thst, I'll call it out as s practice.

It's the "what if there's an emergency" defense to defend pointless, disruptive texting during a movie, only with much higher stakes

LaRusso Auto (Neanderthal), Thursday, 8 October 2020 10:00 (three years ago) link

I think the no nose covering folk I have seen are most likely people who pulled their mask aside for something, and forgot to replsce it. Like the 'wearing a mask alone in a car' thing, I think it's adequately explained by people being forgetful and distracted (as people tend to be).

The employees at 7/11 who consistently chin-strapped knew very well where their mask was.

i had a guy at uhaul present a disgusting new variation that i hadnt seen before: mask down, covering only the bottom lip, upper lip over the mask, as if sucking on the top of the mask. Horrifying.

Like the 'wearing a mask alone in a car' thing, I think it's adequately explained by people being forgetful and distracted (as people tend to be).

Some ppl do this b/c they don't want to touch their face to remove it until they've had a chance to wash their hands. I used to do it myself -- but now that we know surfaces aren't as likely to be a source of transmission, I'm ok relying on hand sanitizer alone. (I knew I was probably being somewhat overcautious before, but I figured better to err on that side.)

I Hate the Aedes (morrisp), Thursday, 8 October 2020 15:56 (three years ago) link

I saw three dicknoses in the hospital today; one elderly patient and two nurses. Only one of those gets the benefit of any doubt over knowing how to wear a mask.

here we go, ten in a rona (onimo), Thursday, 8 October 2020 16:33 (three years ago) link

it's a form of checklisting. you're told you have to wear them to be in public places. you don't want to but you don't wanna get kicked out. so you half-ass it, knowing that fatigued employees are less likely to ask you to mask up or leave if you at least have it on.

it's kind of like your parents telling you that you have to finish your book report before you go to the movies, so you write a shitty three sentences that say "The grapes of wrath are about wrathful grapes." and go out anyway.

LaRusso Auto (Neanderthal), Thursday, 8 October 2020 17:47 (three years ago) link

OTM. And its perfect for passive-aggressive deniability if anyone presses you on it: "oh i didnt realize it just slipped down like that, whoops"

i nicely asked the mask-sucking employee at uhaul that i dealt with to pull his mask up and he was astonished that i asked, grudgingly gave himself a dicknose, and then was doubly astonished i asked him to please pull it up all the way. ime dicknosers are generally just betting that other people will be too shy to ask them about it.
