Barca first teamer, he's quick, strong, good feet. Don't know how many modern full backs are the full package attacking and defending but our system mitigates the defensive side a bit. I've enough trust in our scouting set-up at this point that Nuno sees him as somebody who meets the requirements and i'm absolutely certain he's at least a step up from Doc, and i rated Doc.

my local team in the States (Orlando City) actually beat the Baggies handily in a friendly 5 years ago (3-1). it didn't mean much - Kaka was actually playing for us, and we were in mid-season form and the Baggies in training/pre-season form, but you'd never know it by the way fans were screaming about it afterwards ('the season's over!')

Gareth Barry is in some respects my avatar of my football fandom and I will forgive him almost anything. my first ever live football match was Villa 1 - 0 Arsenal on the last day of the 97-98 season and i believe that may have been his full Premier League debut at the age of 17. the following season we got season tickets and kept them for another 7 years so basically throughout my entire formative period as a football fan Gareth Barry was the Villa boy and for that i will love him unreservedly forever. but christ whose idea was it to let the boring cunt talk on the telly
