no, i's agree with that but i do remember some bad choices right at the end there... i'd have to look at the play-by-play again to clarify.
driving aggressively seemed to work; not sure if they caught miami off guard or if they've found the right tactic.

they were running clock which they maybe started a lil early but it was working, then the flagrant made it dicey (fwiw i feel like when a guy plays defense with his face it should maybe not be a flagrant), if they wanted to keep their foot on the gas it wouldve produced a ton more possessions down the stretch which obvs increases variance, you run clock to reduce that, either approach can go wrong tho theres no 100% win and its very easy to fault the strategy when it does, when really usually the problem is often the execution, or just the other team playing really well

i hated that flagrant call. you have to be able to rotate the ball from side to side over your head in a ready to pass position. it's literally one of the most basic basketball moves.

yeah the ref even said it was unnecessary contact but like it was necessary, feel like the league couldve prepared a lot better for instituting replay, you get one challenge but also if you roll around on the floor and hold your face you get more challenges

they couldve just looked at how the nfl realized they had no idea what a catch actually was to see what a huge can of worms they were opening

on the bright side they get a couple extra days off and gordon hayward is back

i mean, yeah, the celtics have definitely used their starters for a shit-ton of minutes, and it doesn't seem sustainable, but the "holy moly" line in that chart is a little disingenuous considering that the celts have played two more games than the heat and three more than the raptors.

that said, even with hayward in the lineup, three players logged more than 40 minutes in game 3 on saturday and they were all celtics. so, yeah, there's good reason to worry.

well the minutes are adding up regardless of how many games theyre spread across, occurs to me in some ways its prob worse that theyre over more games cause it means they havent had any rest

coming off of a tough 7 game series that was played over 13 days definitely feels like a factor

which i mean a. its a very small lineup theres not even really a power forward in it much less a center b. they didnt have that many games with all their guys healthy c. in the regular season youre trying more to stagger minutes and not tire your guys out playing against bigger guys d. the lineup doesnt make sense against all teams

theis definitely gets officiated like he's a nobody at times, but i think a lot of is just that as an undersized starting center there are still a bunch of matchups around the league that are going to result in very long nights. usually when i see him commit fouls i would call "bad" it's not a result of being too weak but more being a step too late on the contest. they ask him to do a lot in a thankless role on both ends of the court and to his credit he's more than happy to.

even if he were to cut down his foul rate, ideally he's not a guy you're playing more than like 28 minutes a night. i think they need to look at backup center again this offseason and find one more guy who is solid defensively in most matchups and can eat up some minutes.

what's the most sensible way to get the salaries to match?

something like dipo and turner for hayward a young guy and pick(s)

...depending on dipos trade value which to me seems like it should be low since he was bad last year and is on the final year of his deal

or hayward could opt out and do some sort of longer for less per year sign and trade tho i know the rules around those are pretty stringent so im not sure itd work

if they got a team with massive cap space to absorb lamb's contract and take one of boston's 3 1st rounders, turner to boston and hayward to indy could still work

IND gets hayward ($34.1M), mykhailiuk (1.6M)

BOS gets turner ($17.5M)

DET gets lamb ($10.5M), #26 pick (BOS)

cause theyre losing dipo so they need a perimeter creator, and they have two guys they want to play at center, also theyd be getting the best player in the trade... and hes a hoosier

obvs im a well knows proponent of turner to bos but its not like hes a superstar, he cld def be played off the floor in a playoff series just by making him guard the perimeter, his 3pt shot is slow which means it can prob be mostly shut down via concerted close outs, also he doesnt rebound, but still i do think he wld be nasty on the c's and him + theis would give them a very good flexible center rotation

i think it makes sense for both teams and the celtics have draft picks/young guys they can sweeten the pot with, the thing that wld give me pause were i the pacers is haywards recent injury history, and theyd prob need some sort of agreement on a new contract since hes in his last season, not sure if a sign and trade wld work here or what

i guess the oladipo thing going south and their otherwise decent team could motivate them to try something like this, but man idk brogdon/hayward/sabonis/warren/? does not really get me excited.

but how are they supposed to put something together that does get you excited, thats prob a top 4 east seed if nothing else, and indy are on record as being anti rebuilding, so you have a pretty good team and try to work it out from there
