Realizing that Left probably got to 51 because of a post calling Kamala a cop.

New stance: critical support for comrade Left

rascal clobber (jim in vancouver), Saturday, 12 September 2020 03:28 (three years ago) link

I support Left

k3vin k., Saturday, 12 September 2020 03:34 (three years ago) link

tbh I usually glossed over their posts but they seemed good and angey

k3vin k., Saturday, 12 September 2020 03:35 (three years ago) link

If i still post here twenty years from now will there still be whiney controversies

treeship., Saturday, 12 September 2020 03:39 (three years ago) link

Didn't we just change the rules because it was impossible to get 51'd?

here we go, ten in a rona (onimo), Saturday, 12 September 2020 10:31 (three years ago) link

He was the poster I was talking about when I said he was the only one who was anywhere near 51 and he was really trying. His posts were also the sort of thing I was talking about when I said "blunt political challops or widespread condescension of the "I alone see what you idiots all refuse to admit" variety".

It was mostly the "fuck you all and your white supremacist nation" type posts that did it fwiw, posts barking at people rather than talking to them. From IP lookups he doesn't appear to be a sock.

three weeks pass...

Site

but also fuck you (unperson) has been banned permanently.

Seven-day timeout, exceeded 20 flagged posts

sleeve, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:11 (three years ago) link

not the first example I was hoping for, tbh

sleeve, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:12 (three years ago) link

the seventh seal has been opened

Chip-vill-A (imago), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:12 (three years ago) link

kind of intrigued by what caused this as I've not noticed unperson being particularly obnoxious of late

Chip-vill-A (imago), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:13 (three years ago) link

uh, he's been basically the same dude the entire time I've been on ILX -- he's like Shakey Mo -- impressive in his consistency. I see this as more of a barometric shift as you will.

sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:18 (three years ago) link

He's prickly as hell for sure, but I fp'd him for the first time ever the other day for an insultingly racist & gross attempt at a "joke" (and actually it was the image he posted as follow up that really pushed me)

rob, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:22 (three years ago) link

It begins

here comes the hotstamper (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:25 (three years ago) link

What did he do now? Slow and steady wins the race, I suppose.

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:27 (three years ago) link

exceed the thingamabob threshold and a mod will send you out where the people are

bogo jumbo boba (Sufjan Grafton), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:27 (three years ago) link

Not that slow, considering the recent reset!

Chip-vill-A (imago), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:27 (three years ago) link

Heh, true.

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:28 (three years ago) link

he earned 18 entirely on the strength of the Trail of Tears “joke” a couple weeks back.

sound of scampo talk to me (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:29 (three years ago) link

so if not for that he’d still be hovering in the “normal” range of 0-6

sound of scampo talk to me (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:31 (three years ago) link

Ah yes, I’d forgotten about that episode. 18 in one go is quite something – he certainly knew what he was doing there.

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:31 (three years ago) link

I kind of want to see a generational breakdown of historical bans. Who takes the cake so far? Actual boomers? Gen X? Millennials? Zoomers? Gen Alpha? The Interbellum Generation?

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:34 (three years ago) link

Putting a tenner on gen x, easy

seumas milm (gyac), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:38 (three years ago) link

They’ve had more time than the rest of us tbf.

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:39 (three years ago) link

I would say Millennials, but then I think Gen X is only 1962 - 1977

sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:39 (three years ago) link

Might have known the major infraction was buried on some in terminal uspol thread

Chip-vill-A (imago), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:40 (three years ago) link

Interminable, even. But then again

Chip-vill-A (imago), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:40 (three years ago) link

I mean LJ and Whiney were both born after 1980 and they've got at least 3 each

sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:41 (three years ago) link

You were right the first time.

X starts in 79/80, I think (speaking as someone married to someone too old to be a millennial).

seumas milm (gyac), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:43 (three years ago) link

Can’t argue with that.

xp

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:43 (three years ago) link

I think of X as 1965-1980, more or less.

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:43 (three years ago) link

Sorry X ends, I meant. Tbh being born in 1981 being a millennial is taking the piss imo.

seumas milm (gyac), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:44 (three years ago) link

millennial begins in 1986. 1981-85 is a zone of nobodies and ghosts

Chip-vill-A (imago), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:46 (three years ago) link

xp the whole "when is Gen X" reminds me of that Mr. Show sketch where Bob and David argue about being of different generations because one of them is 3 years older than the other (or something like that) ...

sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:47 (three years ago) link

It’s so weird though because millennials span like 1981-1996 and I tend to think of myself as worlds apart from someone who was born in the 90s (absolute babies, obv.).

Xposted from the US pol thread lol.

Same tbh.

bogo jumbo boba (Sufjan Grafton), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:48 (three years ago) link

wtf y'all, Gen X is 65-80, everyone knows this

sleeve, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:49 (three years ago) link

(offended '66 kid here)

Disagree, but probably because all my siblings and I are part of this generation and I don’t think of them as hugely different to me now that we’re all adults, compared to someone born in 2000 who has a completely different understanding of life in terms of what they grow up understanding and the difference in the world.

seumas milm (gyac), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:50 (three years ago) link

Which country yields the most ban-happy posters (Denmark excepted)?

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:51 (three years ago) link

this is how I break it down:

Boomers: 1946 - 1961
Gen X: 1962 - 1977
Orphans of Generational Ret-conning: 1978 - 1983
Millennials: 1978 - 1993

sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:51 (three years ago) link

Generation X was first applied to the current generation in 1952, and people finally twisted the spigot closed in the mid-90s.

erratic wolf angular guitarist (sic), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:52 (three years ago) link

1979ers are millennials? Now there’s a challop.

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:52 (three years ago) link

I guess they did come of US drinking age in Y2K, but that’s not a solid yardstick at all!

pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:53 (three years ago) link

Maybe he’ll come back from this as person.
