It IS funny, but not as funny as its "loose remake."

Man, the organ music in this movie is suffocating.

As bad as Carnival of Souls? I can't remember either right now. I'm tempted to put on some organ music now.

do all home video editions of this feature the subtitles at the top of the screen? the criterion is out of print & i got a DVD on amazon that looked suspicious but the picture quality was surprisingly good. the subtitle thing bugged me at first but then it compounded the disorientating effect of the film itself in a nice way.

I’m kind of weirded out about the fact that the last post in this thread before you was from me 7 years ago. Appropriate I guess.I saw this in school on an old DVD and I have the Criterion. Neither played subs at the top. You might have a weird one but also some players have options to change sub positions and colors and such.

I have the Studio Canal Collection blu-ray, and the subtitles are at the bottom.

it's possible that the top captions are closed captioning which is different from subtitles and is also included on most discs.

it's this one: https://www.amazon.com/Last-Year-Marienbad-Delphine-Seyrig/dp/B00NCJPWP4
there's no menu, and the subtitles or CC can't be turned off
